Default JDM console and noticing exhaust heat?

I have my JDM console in to eliminate the armrest portion of my USDM setup, and noticed on my drive to and from Nashville for the H-T meet that there was quite a bit of heat in/around that area.

Is there that much heat being transferred under there that I didn't notice before that I can now feel with the small and open JDM console, or do I have an exhuast leak you guys think? I don't think that I have a heat shield in that area due to it rattling I believe it was removed before I bought the car.

Do I just need to get a new heatshield with this new small JDM console?

I'm hoping it's not an exhaust leak and I wasn't sitting in the car for 10 hours breathing carbon monoxide

Jon

I usually get a little heat from the shift boot on long drives or hard driving, but the heat sheild would probably take care of the problem, post a pic of your console please.

I get no heat at all on my JDM ITR, not at the arm rest eliminator nor the shift boot area

Don't have any pics of the console, sorry. It is just the JDM piece that takes the place of our armrest, looking very similar to the G2 Integra.

I'm just hoping it's not some kind of leak. I really am doubting it, as I just put in a whole new exhuast system, and was very sure that everything was tight with new gaskets.

Just wondering if anyone else was having the same experiences. The heat is coming from the e-brake handle right where the metal is in the handle of the brake.

Thanks guys

if you removed the heatshields then that may be the cause of your problem...i can certify that i definitely have no heat on the e-brake handle in any place!

Good to see other people with similar experiences, but I'm still gonna roll under there and see if everything is connected and running properly for peace of mind.
