http://www.americaniron-east.com. But I don't think they have a forum there. They have a yahoo groups forum which you have to join but I think they also post here quite frequently. I checked and nothing yet.

If I were an American Iron driver I'd probably be hiding from the motorsport message boards right now. That was friggin' *awesome* watching you guys roll all that horsepower.
they might not jump on a message board but i know they will be working on thier game. they might have the power but its all power to weight stuff. look for them to have had an awakening after this weekend and look for them to work harder on improving their skillz so this doesnt happen again. its more of a gut check...
In their defense I think they run spec toyo's (ra-1's or whatever they are)? that can make a decent difference.
I don't want to sound like the adult of the crowd, but.....It isn't real cool talking **** on them like this ..........plus we will be racing with them from here on out!
I enjoyed the race....so I would prefer to not have them get all pissed off......
Many of the 944/924's flat out sucked as drivers in my opinion so that was different.... these guys were all good as far as I saw.
Just my opinion.

Except for the fact that CC.com is not an AI web forum. Certainly there are a lot of AI competitors there but there are also a lot of SM competitiors, a few HC competitors and an assload of of other classes represented as well.
Chad tried talking smack once before there and the general concensus was "Who is this guy and why is he starting crap over stuff we don't care about?"

Is AI's minimum weight like 800 - 1,000 lbs more than the average H1 car? Think how hard we'll work to get 15 lbs out of a Honda! 1,000 lbs
Chit!

As a new V6 Camaro owner and having recently attended my first track day at Texas World Speedway with the camaro I will say that I absolutely like how it handles over an integra. Now the Z28 camaros might not handle as well as the V6 because of about 100+lbs over the front wheels that you can't do anything about. In autocross situations the V6 camaro absolutely turns in a single direction on a dime, especially with Nitto NT 555RII tires. It does have problems with transitions though - seems a little behind in the slaloms with the NT 555RII (actually transitions better with the Yokohama AVS ES-100 tires on stock wheels!). Now this was with the worn out original dampers in front and new Koni single adjustable in the rear. I've since had time to install the front Koni's (which was done just before the TWS track event) and will see what transitional difference good front dampers make on an otherwise stock V6 Camaro this coming night autocross event (maybe the transitions will be a little better?
). But from what I felt from the track experience at TWS, tight transitioning will be much improved.
How do yall FWD civic/integra guys run against the spec miata guys? There was quite a few spec miatas running at TWS during the weekend, and I was having difficulty with a few of them on track, but not in the way you might think. Everything was fine on the straights, I'd get the pass signal and pass. But then would come the turns and I'd be stuck behind another one, and would have to slow down compared to if I had no traffic. So the spec miata guys (in green group) were too slow for me in the corners. Now the regular/experienced spec miata guys seemed more equal if not better in the corners. I will tell you this too, I love turn 7 at TWS on the 2.9 mile configuration...by the end of the second day I was up to just under 95mph on that banked 100 degree turn and man do the G's pull like crazy (easily 2+ G's of fun!). One of the instructors who is also a spec miata racer and local autocrosser commented that the fastest he's ever been around turn 7 is just over 120mph, and that was barely staying on the track. So maybe experienced spec miata guys have something over a stock V6 Camaro in the turns...
I know yall guys are crazy fast, but don't underestimate the handling of a 4th generation camaro...especially a '98 + model (unfortunately which aren't eligible for AI/AIX last time I looked
). I will tell you the one weak spot I noticed on my camaro - the power steering pump. By the second track day I got to where the power steering fluid was boiling nearly every session...not good! So I will need to get some time of cooling for the power steering system plus investing $250 for an improved power steering pump for the 4th gen camaro to cure the boiling fluid problem. Oh yeah, one other weakness too - fuel consumption on track. The V6 gets great highway mileage (32mpg cruising in 5th gear), but really sucks gas when you are constantly on the throttle around a course. For the fourth session of the first day it was running on empty (thought there was 1/4 tank, but that's where the needle likes to sit anytime the engine is off, and ignition is on...doah!) So near the end of the fourth session the fuel starts kicking out on me, not fun especially when you have crazy spec miata racing guys behind you who aren't supposed to pass until the straights. I tried to go as slow as I could without blocking traffic and pitted in early to refuel...but that one lap wasn't fun at all!

Power steering? what's that?
Power steering? what's that?
i have no idea where to start my response to that post......
ITE cars (think vipers, C5 Vette's) tend to cause a problem for Spec Miata's under braking and in the corners, so i highly doubt that your camaro, which sounds like it has limited preparation, is holding up the SM's.
the SM drivers might be holding you up, but if it's actually a SM, it will be quicker through the corners when driven properly.
EDIT: i'm pretty sure anything H3 and above should walk all over a SM.

That it was a good one. What else would they say? Granted they have power on y'all, but they are lacking in aerodynamics, weight, and suspension tech.

What I found was that I could take a lot of passes on the AI cars on the exits of the turns, when their Toyos just wouldn't put the power down. Also, they brake about 200 feet earlier coming into turn 1 which sets up a lot of passing opportunities. I enjoyed racing with them for the most part, but by the end of the race I was overheating so badly that I had to short shift to keep the water temp out of the red. Once I did that, three of them got by me. We most definately put up a fight though!!!

Sorry Mike no easy out for you,
Have you looked under Brian Shuggs Car? The Maxium Mortosports stuff under there is pretty impressive, solid axel or not so if you really do know what your talking about... and shugs car is about as preped to rules as you can get in AI... and he was out in front of all the h1 cars...
