Double SARRC Aug 7&8 at Sebring - Who's all going?
I was just feeling a little left out when I see all this HC smack talk. So, until you HC guys come down into Florida, then the smack talk will have to be within SCCA. So, I'll start. I'm switching from Kumho V700s to the new Hoosiers. So, if could run 2:44s before, I may now get down a couple of more seconds just because of Hoosiers. Now, that could put in the podium for ITA unless someone would like to tell me otherwise. Who?
...if you don't know me, shame on you 'cause here the GBRacing LAMIN-X sponsored ITA #24 coming at ya

I'll be making the Golf's IT debut at the double SARRC the following weekend at CMP but Sebring is a loooong way to tow from Greensboro, NC.

Oh man only 150 bucks! but it's after 7-24 so 50 dollars must be added
. Please post when the next one will be happening. $150 is a damn good price.
What's this rule that states all cars must have an AMB transponder?

Pat,
SCCA uses AMB transponders for all their timing. If you interested in going racing with SCCA you must first be a member of SCCA and then attend a SCCA sanction school to aquire your racing license. Once that is all taken care of, then as long as you have a tech'ed racecar, you'll be able to attend any club race. Oh, if you already knew all of this, my apologies. Either way, if you're not too far from Sebring, you should plan on attending. You'll have to get there by 11:00 and if you not a SCCA member, then ask for a VIP pass. It's only 5 bucks. Once you are in, you see hundreds of race cars and racers who are typically all pretty freak'n cool people.
On a side note, I'm not feeling the love here. If this was an Honda Challenge event, this thread would have been several pages buy now. So, you guys better get some HC races down here in Florida so I can join in the smack talk

Actually I did not know that. Does SCCA provide you with AMB transponders at the event or does one have to purchase these? Also do you have any info on sanctioned SCCA race schools in Florida so that I could acquire my license?
I really need to start road racing, and not turn into my friends that have been saying they're going to road race and obviously have not after saying they would for three years. That can't be me.
I appreciate the info though.
I was looking at chinmotorsports also but they charge like 250 per day to race with them at Sebring, homesetad, and Moroso.

I don't think there will be any more Drivers Schools until next year. Best place for SCCA racing info in the SE: http://www.sedivracing.org/
Most SCCA events do not rent transponders.
BTW, Chin != Racing. Chin is an HPDE. SARRC is racing. 2 very different things.

I definately agree with SPiFF. Chin is not racing. It's a whole lot of fun but nothing, I mean absolutely nothing compares to wheel to wheel road racing. As to how to get into racing, look at the web site and http://www.scca.org. Now, as to a racecar, that's a whole different story. If you come out this weekend, you see several different classes with lots of different cars. Once you decide what class you want to run, that will dictate what kind of car you'll be running. Or if you absolutely love a particular type/model of car, then it may dictate what class you'll be running in. It's all up to you.
Either way, if you decide to go, don't hesistate in stopping by for a chat.
