Default OT: driving around in a SUV for a week made me realize a few things.

SUV used: 2003 Ford Exploder
Purpose: Driven in Baltimore for a week.

Observations made on SUV:
1) the SUV gave me a birds eye view of everything.
2) the SUV was very comfortable
3) handling on the SUV sucked. Even for regular turns.
4) braking sucked nuts
5) lots of power on the slightest touch of the pedal.
6) Vehicle response time issues
7) Navigating huge vehicle issues
8) 30 gallons? this thing takes 30 gallons on 3/4 tank fill up? WTF? Omfg its $40+ dollars to fill this sucker up?

Personal conclusions made on SUV:
1) I now understand why girls like SUVs. They are large, and if they drive like **** it doesnt matter, the other party will die, not them.
2) Girls who can not drive for their lives, get in a SUV and become exponentially worse at everything, including parking. Half of the suckiness of their driving in the poor vehicle selection, the other half is bad driver skills.
3) SUVs should carry a much higher taxation in this country, therefore limiting the desire for these SUV's by the average american consumer.

Upon returning from Baltimore...Observations made on ITR:
1) holy ****. this thing is noisy as hell at 10 mph. I hear EVERYTHING. (road noise, wtf are these weird grinding noise?)
2) Wow. I am so low to the ground.
3) I feel like I'm on rails.
4) Did I mention the damn noise?
5) VTEC is weaksauce.

Tom - who figures he should share for the hell of it.

side note, my roommates girlfriend just picked up a gigantic Ford F150 Extended cab. She went from a gaylude to the truck. Whats the first thing she says about it? "I feel like I own the road and can run over anyone and anything that gets in the way" Id say thats a typical girl response to driving those huge gas hogs Being in the passenger seat, and observing her driving habits, it definitely makes me uneasy to be another driver on the road.

With the stringent laws on fire arms these days the next best thing for a chronic 'Road-Rage' sufferer is an SUV.

And to think that the ford explorer is one of the smaller SUV's on the market.

My theory on girls driving is that they all suck because they were taught by their mothers. If anyone says thats stereotypical then the select few girls that are good at driving is because they were taught by their fathers.

I drove a Budget truck that needs 12' of vertical clearance from Chicago to Wash. DC straight getting hammered by Semi's that were blowing past me at 80mph (and it shook the hell outta me) filling up 58 bucks per fuel stop. I feel ya brah! I need to climb back into the R or at the very least, the S.

gee are we generalizing? I know many guys who drive like **** and were taught by their fathers...
I don't think guys have an inborn talent to necessarily be better drivers than girls...

Praise my brotha!

Lets not forget those Soccer moms who put on make-up, drink coffee, talk on the cell, yell at there kids, and drive (notice how drive is at the end of the list). They buy the big SUV's to keep their kids safe but don't give a **** about anyone else. ******* ********.

The only Suv's I like are the Cherokees with the four liters and 4wd of cource. My parents each have one and they use them for what they were designed for: towing and driving on the beach.

The brakes suck! I almost rear-ended my friend years ago when we were hauling *** down a steep downhill only to stop at a stopsign. I had to stand on the fuggin brakes not to smash the **** out of his 929.

I think they should raise the tax on any vehicle with VTEC in order to curb the street racing problem.(not really, but just to show how supid your ideal is)

Gilrs belong to the backseats of the SUV...while parked in a dark parking lot with no cars around at 4am in the morning.

Dude, That wasn't an SUV; that's a just 4x4 box car!

I tow with a 2001 4x4 5.4 Expedition. 11 mpg in city 13.5mpg towing 30 gal tank.

I agree that unless you tow something, or have at least 5 kids the Gov't should tax the **** out of them. Folks that own these pigs just to haul a bag of fertilizer need their heads examined .

Bought my (now ex-) wife an Exploder a while back because she 'didn't feel safe' in her Civic Si. Whenever I drove it, I got a great ab workout, since it felt like it was gonna flip in every turn, causing me to clench my stomach muscles...

But they're sweet for off-road buffalo chasing...

I agree, but it will never happen. Car manufacturers & politicians are all greedy bastards who only care about $$$ in their pocket. The last thing that they care about it the actual influence of these retarded SUV creations on the road.

Heh, come to Arizona, EVERYONE drives a huge lifted monster truck. Sometimes after a few drinks I find myself thinking about trying to change lanes under a persons truck.

What really sucks about trucks, especially these lifted POS ones, is when they hit you, only their tire hits you, so you fender gets fuxored and they are fine and then they run red lights to get away and you can't call the cops because you cut them off in the first place.

So anyways, yeah, trucks suck.
