Default Maiden tow with Gigantor

Made the first tow to VIR with Gigantor this weekend. Gigantor, of course, being the Biggie Size E350 7.3L diesel van I purchased from Walt Puckett. As you may already know, I had some issues with this thing shortly after I acquired it. It wouldn't start, and it leaked everything. Other than that, it was perfect.

So after much cursing, sweat, and tears, it was as close to being tow ready as it was gonna get, that is until I write a large check to get the A/C fixed.

How'd it do? Fantastic! Every hill that the foothills of NC could throw at it, it ate it up. I did lose 2 mph going up one hill on the way back south of Hickory. But maintaining 70 mph was cake. Anywhere, anytime. Diesel: it's what's for towing

Preliminary mileage comes in ~15 mpg. Beats the hell out of the 11 I got with my uncle's 5.0 F150 last time. And that was to Roebling, where the interstate is flat with a capital "Goddamn!"

Cliff notes: Diesels own.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. The first time you get to the track, back the race car off the trailer, and realize that you're DONE setting the car up...is a life changing moment.

Good job getting that rig running

Matt,
Did you take it out on a few Touring Laps?

I though I saw it out there.

I'd be more befuddled if it didn't.

Bilstiens are in the "master plan". As well as actually connecting the front sway bar. That thing rolled so much I was positive it was going to tip over in hogpen. So I only did 2-3 laps...

That's no excuse. I put a want ad on http://www.thedieselstop.com and within a week I was driving a 1997 E350 PSD for $6000. That's cheap. Blue book was around $12,000-$13,000 at the time. If you're serious about buying one, put a want ad up or look at the classifieds on that site. You'll be sure to get a hit.

Real trucks don't have spark plugs.

You're confusing your tow vehicle with my track car.

I'm certain I could've used motorcycle kneepucks.

21 psi for me

Matt,
If you think the truck has power now, it's a whole 'nother world with a chip or programmer.

Unfortunately it's not a turbo, so don't think a chip or a program is gonna do very much
