Whats wrong with my 98?
Ok, here is the 411... I own an automatic 98 lude with 57k miles on it. Its amazing and i love it. The other day i found a chassis dyno finally
! It was a dyno jet and after three pulls i got this as the best one...

135whp...that doesnt really sound like an H22a. I realize im supposed to loose some hp to the wheels but thats like 60hp! It runs and sounds fine but i cant help but think that there is a reason im loosing power that im just to dumb to see. What is my output to the wheels supposed to be and does anyone have an idea what the problem is>

well the auto tranny will eat up a little more power than the 5sp. you may just need a full tune up. also checking your compresion isn't a bad idea.
you are running pretty rich. if you lean it all out to about 13.5 Air /Fuel ratio then you will see gains across the board. But probably not 25 horsepower.

To get a tune up i know i can just go to some car garage and they do that. But what about cam advancements, checking the compression and stuff. How do i find someone to do that sort of stuff?
PS- Im thinking about getting type S pistions and skunk2 cams. Does that sound like it would work or am i gonna have some problems. And how much do you think i will gain from that?

In all honesty, lose the auto before making any mods.
I know you don't wanna hear that, but I would definatley look for a 5spd. Even if you did get the auto up to sufficent power, it's not going to hold up for long.
Also every dyno is different, don't read to hard into the #'s.. weather conditions, calibration of the dyno etc. can affect hp/tq #'s/

I have given the idea serious thought but how much is something like that. I realize that im going to need a new transmision and the car isnt set up for manual. So how much is the whole Tiptronic to manual switch?

you're better off selling the car and getting a manual. The auto tranny will always make for disappointing results so don't start going down that road

The dyno was done in third gear. Why do you ask, does that make a diff? The guy that was doing it was an idiot, i hope he dies. He was complaining that the engine would downshift when he floored it. I was like WTF, put it in tiptronic mode and it wont do that you bastard!

seriously, you can't compare my car vs. your car @2 different times on 2 different dynos..
There is an article in SCC you should check out, it goes into great detail on how they work and why you can get sooo many different figures.
