Default '93 Accord with 175K Miles 20w50 Oil OK for Gainesville, Florida?

We've got a 93 Accord with 175K miles in South Florida thats been regularly getting its oil changed at Jiffy Lube every 3K Miles with Pennzoil 10W30. The car will be moving up to Gainseville and as a result will make occassional 320 Mile trips, and local traffic. There are a few minor oil leaks in the driveway, but nothing that requires me to add any oil between changes. The mechanic recommended that we switch over to 20W50. Is this a good idea? or Should I continue using the 10W30. What would be the benefit of switching to the 20W50 at this time? The leaks, are around the CAM Seal, the Crank Seal, the Balance Shaft Seal and of course the Valve Cover Gasket.

Thanks for your help!

i wouldnt go above 10w30. 20w50 is pretty thick. has the timing belt ever been replaced??? if not, then u might want to do that cause they replace the seals in the timing belt area so u dont have leaks.

replacing the valve cover gasket is easy btw.

Timing Belt was replaced about 20K Miles ago. Is the thicker oil a problem for this high mileage engine?

it wouldnt hurt it but i would stick with 10-30 and add lucas oil treatment to your oil it will stick to all your parts better and run smoother
