I'd upgrade to Premium gas, new plugs usually help, especially for a 15yr old car. I hope this helped, I might have missread the question

lead? as in lead fuel additive?
If so, say goodbye to your catalytic converter and hello to more frequent O2 sensor changes.

I would suggest just regular NGK copper plugs. Change those out every 3 or 4 months or every 3 oil changes and it should run fine.

i think when he says leads he means plug wires, and yes i would definetly get a nice set of plug wires, i suggest ngk. i would also buy the basic ngks and change them every so often like suggested above. do not fall into the trap of believing splitfires or whatever they are called are any better, in my opinion it sucks. They have 4 contact points above the electrode to make people think it will have 4x the amount of spark. WRONG! think about it, spark can only ground to one place and one time, not 4, it will only jump to one contact, the easiest to access.
