i have a 96 accord lx (74,000 miles). everytime i accelerate a weird metallic sound comes from the bottom of the car. it occurs whenever i hit 2000 rpm and stops when i hit 3000 rpm. it sounds like a slight metallic, rattling noise. my friend thinks it might be coming from the piping, but we're not sure.

does anyone know what's causing this??

i believe a lot of people have said that you can get rocks caught in your cat cover thingy which could be causing the rattling...or maybe something is just loose get under her and check

 

may be a heat shield

 

definitely the heat sheild, every 5spd 5th gen accord rattles at about 1750 rpm
