ok, I have some blind faith in the LS head. i think there is potential waiting to be opened up. Has anyone tried using bigger valves? I mean like 2 or 3mm bigger. How deep can you sink the seats? I have a bunch of heads at the shop chillen and i want to do some research, but i dont want to redo things people have already done and found to be failures.
If anyone has links or anything to something similar to what I am asking i would appreciate it
also, for searching, its tough to search LS and not many people say b18a/b head (which is why i included it in the title) so if i have missed anything, please link me
thanks

you will need new valve seats if you go larger than 31.5mm on the intake side. there isnt enough room to fit that big of a valve on the stock seat. (so i have been told)
if you can fit a 33mm intake valve and have the whole intake port ported to match it should flow equal to or better than a B16 head since the LS intake port kinda has the same shape as the B16 intake port.
could the LS engine use that much more air flow........hmmm......probably not....but it might work pretty well with the right camshafts and intake manifold setup....

octoman - i will look into that. thanks
non-vtec - yeah, i know i will have a good amount of seatwork. the work isnt really the problem. i'm just trying to see what has been thought about. I do want to see it flowing better than a similarly worked on vtec head.
I dont see your rationale about the LS engine needing that much flow. its a platform to be built just like any b18c or b16a would be. it needs all the flow it can get. just need to think it through

does anyone have some flow numbers on the p8r? we put an endyn LS head with .5mm over Intake and Exhausts on the bench and it flowed comprable peak to b16 and better down low.
I'm curious to see some actual number from the p8r rather than just the rumors. yeah you can have the valves, but how nice can you get the ports?
