Just blew my motor (i think)
First of all this is my first post... Although i have been posting on houston-imports.com for 4 yrs or so...
So i think the motor is done... I was racing today and let off after the quick run.. Then i hear a ticking sound so i pulled over.. The ticking sounded like a bent valve. So i decided to limp it to the shop just up the street.. But it didnt make it. The oil light came on and i just turned the car off and pushed it.
So the mechanic thinks its done for.. So im looking for a replacement for my DOHC ZC motor.... Im thinking b16a first gen.. Due to the cheap and it should just bolt in my car no mounts required...
Can anyone give me a link that will educate me on the swap..
By the way my car is a european spec crx 1.6i-16

i think youll still need mounts considering the DOHC ZC and d16 mounts are interchangeable but d16 and the b16 mounts ARENT...the mount bracket locations are different on the chassis.
You prolly blew a hole in the block if the oil light came on. I drove around for 2 weeks with the ticking sound (was gettin ready for a swap so i didnt plan on spending anymore money ont he old d16a6) and i ended up throwing a rod through the back of the block, knocking a pretty big hole in the block...oil leaked out everywhere, my oil light came on right away too and i killed it immediately tho im sure it would have stauled out any second.

are you planning on parting out your ZC? and what kinda things do you have for it?
sorry to hear about the engine, i'm replacing my blown D16a6 with the DOHC ZC

i had the same thing happen to my first zc. i threw a rod and it happened bcuz of my oil pump. my oil pump died and everything just f***ed up from there. i am putting a gen 1 b16a in my crx. good luck with the motor. LATER!
