It's quite obvious you bought an engine so why don't you quit being an attention ***** and tell us what kind it is?
Seriously, whats in the box?

I can't believe they just left it! Those are expensive. They are called Chep pallets, and they are SOO damn strong!

Dude, you need to sweep your patio.
Don't know what it is exactly but I can say with some certainty that it's not a 350 V8 or 6.0L Powerstroke.

Ha, ha! Seriously, I didn't notice that. In fact, if I had thought of it I would have put that "K" on there myself just to be an ***. Still, any of you who know me know that I'm not going to stray from ITA/H4 anytime soon and I'm sure as hell not going to be the person who brings an 88 CRX Si K20 H1 car to Arizona
This should tell the rest of the story:

Tom Blaney at SBMS put this motor together for me for the upcoming season (that's right, summer is our OFF season in AZ
). I opted for the .040 over block because he had one on hand that was ready to go rather than wait for a .020 to be built. Plus, I still have the option to rebuild my current block to .020 and later out to .040 which should last me several years down the road. The head is built to the limit of IT rules and I'll let Tom share his secrets as he pleases. As for the rest, we added a Quaife LSD, Centerforce Stage II clutch, and a 4.78 FD in a completely rebuilt tranny.
I'm hoping to have everything running in the next few weeks and on track in Sept for the first HC event at PIR.
-travis, who isn't planning to leave H4, put is hoping to give H3 a run for it's money anyway...

When I win the lottery I'm gonna build a winter home in AZ and summer up here in OR, that way I can race the winter season at PIR and then the summer season at.... PIR.

Perhaps Tom could chime in here and spill a few beans......
There's anther thread on the forum about .040 pistons, among other things. What inerests me most is the lack of available .040 HONDA pistons, and the need to go aftermarket. There's a bunch of really crappy aftermarket pistons out there ("Topline" comes to mind). Of couse, then getting quality aftermarket rings is a problem, too.
Now, besides a spilled can of beans (hopefully), we're gonna have a can of worms: I read, a long time ago, on another board, that WISECO made (ahem) IT Legal forged pistons, in a .040" over size, for the D16A6 motor. Pair these with a nice set of total seal rings, and you'd have nice bottom end. I don't intend to turn this into a "forged pistons arent legal in IT" thread, really just to confirm the availability of QUALITY aftermarket pistons and rings for an ITA CRX.
Tom?
Anyone?
Thanks!
Jon

Do people actually use those in IT motors?

The motor is built to ITA Legal specs' with a lot of attention spent to getting rid of friction. That means a slightly loose feel to the bearing and micro polish on the crank journals. The pistons are .40 over stock configuration that I get from a supplier (thought I was gonna give that up weren't you) and are not topcats. The rules require that except for the overbore they must be stock. I use total seal rings that are matched to the bore and I hand file them as needed to fit. The total seals are very helpful in maintaining the little bit of compression gain when the head is cut to minimum. The head has a little work on the valve cuts and again the reduction of friction.
The motor should be rated at 125hp and 110 tq. These are numbers that I got with the same exact configuration put in my crx and taken to a chassis dyno at Village Auto Works. The numbers will vary some on each dyno, but this is about what you should suspect.
The car uses a little higher fuel pressure and timing that are chip controlled. Travis will get setup instructions with the motor and gearbox.
This engine gearbox combo has proven to be a winner and personally I have a lot of wins and 2 narrc championships with it. I ran the 12 hours at the point with the same configuration and never lifted the hood from the start to the finish and was a high as 7th overall for most of the race.

Shucks, its an engine.
I thought it was going to be a box full of eucalyptus eating koalas who shat all over eachother while being shipped from Australia.

It's nice to see someone take that much care in packing such a dificult item to ship..
KUDOS to Tom and best of luck in the "offseason"..
