not going to do the mini-me swap over, but i am going to do a minor build up(head and new OEM pistons probably) just looking at what options or if there any for a bigger TB on a Y7. THe IACV does interfere with it i know but is there any way around getting a mini me swap or boring my stock TB>

I put on a D16Y8 intake manifold (bigger plenum) on my D16Y7, and that helped a lot. I used my stock TB, minus the other 'wheel" (see y8 IM swap). But as far as more throttle response, a cold air or short ram intake will do somethin, a better air filter definatly helps; they say K&N is good, but get AMSOIL if you can find it. Upgrading your electrical grounds for your motor to the frame is suppose to help throttle response. I did it, but did the manifold, filter, and CAI and i noticed better response, but that was a lotta stuff. on a D16Y7 motor, your throttle options kinda suck. What would be good is 2 things: D16Y8 Intake manifold from a EX manual tranny with the IACV that is on the actual manifold insted of through the throttle body. Your best other option is getting another throttle body. Any other B or D should work, as they all share bolts and do bolt up. The only thing is... your TB is the smallest. So if you put on like a Integra LS or even the big ITR throttle body, you'll have to ...taper your intake manifold or the air will not flow right. If your gonna do this (and this will help throttle response the most--getting a ITR throttle body as its bigger by a lot) , get a D16Y8 intake manifold, cause the Y7 one bites ***, I know I been there. Its not really needed to go to a machine shop to like bore out the opening where air comes in. Manifold is aluminum, so a hour or so and a file will work, although a friend with a lathe/ milling machine or a 70mm triangle drill bit or whatever will work. Definatly look into a bigger TB and the EX intake manifold, as this will get more air in, more gas mileage, some more HP, and MUCH better throttle response.

 

use a throttle body from a b series

 

hey, my Sig says i already have a y8 manifold on. What other TB can i use besides boring this one out. remember the IACV is on the TB for the y7

buy a 62 mm throttle body

 

get a b series one and just bore it out its only 100$ or u can just get a type r witch is 64mm

Damn, do all the B series throttle bodies use IACVs on the manifold? more i think about it, i shoulda put on a manual EX manifold and used its IACV insted. I'm in the same problem you are.

Yeah, that might be a problem. Best thing to do is to bore out your y7 throttle body to 60mm unless there is a way around the IACV issue.

 

How about the Y8 auto throttle body (or is it the same size at the Y7's)?

 

It is the same size as the y7 (56mm).
