Petition for Englishtown Raceway Park
Raceway Park needs your help and support!!!
On Thursday August 5th, a Public Meeting is being held to discuss the noise levels that affect the residents of Manalapan and Englishtown. Monmouth County Assemblymen Michael J. Panter and Robert L. Morgan will discuss their recent legislation proposal to remove the Motor Vehicle Racetrack Exemption from the Noise Control Act of 1971. This exemption is what makes it possible for racetracks of all types to operate unmuffled vehicles. This move would be devastating to Raceway Park, and could set off a number of changes the way racetracks operate both here in our area and all over the state. Founded in 1965, long before the wave of housing developments that now dominate our area, Raceway Park has remained a place for motorsport enthusiasts of all kinds to come and enjoy the sports they love. Raceway Park has been able to stay open these many years based largely in part on the vocal support of the many local race fans who have helped us to fend off these attacks in the past.
We now ask for that support again, so that we may silence those who oppose Raceway Park once and for all. The meeting is open to the public and will take place on Thursday August 5th at 7:00 PM in Manalapan Township at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters located at 125 Symmes Rd. The library is a mere 1/4 mile from the corner of Route 9 and Symmes Rd. and very easy to access. If you are unable to attend, please contact Assemblymen Panter and Assemblymen Morgan at 732-741-5599 and voice your opinion. You may also fax your thoughts to 732-741-0012 or contact them via email at AsmPanter@njleg.org or AsmMorgan@njleg.org. If you e-mail, please copy Raceway Park at etownrcwy@aol.com. You can send a letter to them at New Jersey General Assembly, Legislative Office, The Galleria, 2 Bridge Avenue, Bldg. 2, Red Bank, New Jersey 07701. Please come out and support Raceway Park, the home of fast family fun for over 40 years and for many years to come.
I have started a petition for Englishtown Raceway Park which I will be sending them before the town meeting. Please take the little time it takes to sign the petition and to give them a call to voice your opinion.
Feel free to copy and paste this URL to all places. Thanks.

Although I've been vocal against some of their business practices, I can't deny the fact that they are THE only decent gig in central/north Jersey for motorsports... especially our Solo2 program. I'll be there in support of the Napp's.

Yes, but they have lots large enough for the NNJR Solo2 program to use. They also have a decent kart track and if it ever opens, a great test-and-tune or ride-and-drive 1.33 mile road course.
A LOT of people would be adversely affected by this.

fortunately i checked before i reposted this (thanks again greg!). if you are a motorsports fan especially one in new jersey this can affect you! if what they are planning goes in effect it could be a major blow to all our hobbies. wasnt there talk of building a road course down in south jersey? i would think something like this would put it in serious jeopardy. so from one enthusiast to another i ask you all to please help us support raceway park by first reading the post and take some action. also please spread the word to anyone that can help. every voice is appreciated.

and thats basically the bottom line. to have this facility shut down would be a major blow to all motorsports. on a good note just through the numbers from the petition i can see the word is getting around not just from drag racers but road racers (like my father), auto-xers, moto-xers, kart racers, drifters, ETC. hopefully this will convince the powers to be that this would be a grave mistake. thanks again everyone.

BTW would it be possible to make this thread sticky for the next few days?

If it's any consolation I posted a link to the online petition and a little blurb on my site: http://www.nerdsracing.com

See this is exactly what I told my dumb *** sister in law before she moved into East Windsor..
Subsequently the ******* was part of the "Concern Citizens Group" that eventuall routed the place closed..Kind of funny to see all of these 30 somethings talking about how their lives are "diminished" due to the racetrack creating high noise levels.
I think I saw 10 people in the crowd that were actually ALIVE when the track opened up..
Signed...and the wife did also (seems she now has an interest in getting me out of the house)

Like many of the NJ locals, I don't think the Napp(s) [track owners] are in particular need of charity, but this place has been there just about before the earth was flat.
Suburban sprawl has just about encroached Raceway Park on all sides. It's amazing that people will spend $500,000 or $600,000 on a house and not have a clue what is nearby. In my town, there was a huge stink about 10-15 years ago when all these aggrieved residents who had just moved into their new 4000sf contemporary mini-mansions were getting noised-out on weekend nights by the rock club across the main road they backed up to. That particular venue had been there since the '50's in one form or another. It's one thing to protect your property rights if something is proposed well after you've made your investment, but to do a NIMBY when you find out something is there afterwards, well shame on you.

mee thinkst these people should move (relocate) so us stunnaz can move in to live closer to a race track. ... besides they should be happy, vibrations of this caliber do well to cure the **** retentive. (was going to put a rasberry icon, but it just didn't see right)
great job tonight everyone. the supporter turnout was excellent tonight. i belive we proved tonight the people opposing the track are a huge minority. there was only one person with a valid arguement against the track that may have had gotten some sympathy with her situation. but in the end the people that spoke on behalf of the track aired out some good intelligent statements. hopefully tonights meeting and the other forms of support (gregs online petition has over 2000 signatures in less than a week! ) will have a positive effect on our cause. im not sure what the next step is from here but im sure the people at RP will keep everyone informed so we can continue to support them.
