Contrast some of the original old school ITR people with Posche afficiandos, and newer ITR stunnas with those that just want/need to be seen in a PoRsChA.

Just a thought.
Since I was just thinking of subscribing to "Panorama".

I've met equals for both groups be they Porsche, Beemer, Domestic, Honda, Subie and EVO owners. Lately I even met some stunna 350Z & G35 gents.

It's mostly a mindset with the ricer/jackwad crowd predominantly between the ages of 16 to 26.

Two of the nicer Porsche guys that stand out for me are two different instructors that I've had. One ******* Porsche guy that stands out is actually another Chef acquaintance that always corrects you that Porsche is a 2 syllable word.

I'm sure it would be easy for some to label us as well.

Both have their snobby members, both have their members that are truly in love with the car and want to meet others with the same passion for the car.

My dad was in love with porsche's and was always working on one. Got me to like em too. I think my favorite was his 911. We still have the little 914.

924 broke lol.....just like all the other 924's

Ja, ... I suppose there are always a "few".

Every now and then I think about the 944 turboS I missed out on a few years back.
Lately I've been thinking of an early 70s 911S or E for a daily driver.

The difference is, there are no jokes about porcupines and ITR owners.

Example: "What's the difference between a porcupine and a Porsche? On a porcupine, the ****** are on the outside."

LOL! (Seriously, that was good Ken!)

I like Anton's word of the day too... "jackwad".

EDIT: Crap I almost forgot about posting about Porsches.... Ive always wanted a 89-92 C2 but reliabilty/maintenance but be a kicker. I love the new '05 headlights.

ANOTHER EDIT: See this is what I like... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...t=194 , but when I look at say 89-93s, most of them are Cabriolets or Targas.

I'd say porsche guys are a lot like ITR guys, a majority of them are 'social enthusiasts', in the game for the bling, not the performance, but the 'real' enthusiasts get hard core, busted *** track porsches that are super fast. A lot of the guys that drive new porsches are just rich people who wanted an expensive car, and dont give a **** how well they handle or how fast they are

914 (GT)- not for everyone, but I love them

I'm drawn between an early 911S and a 97+ C4 Aero ... in black.

Anyone see the show on the German Autobahn yesterday (or previously) on the History channel?
They did a top speed test on a Ruf that topped out at a legal 212 mph.

Probably the differences are mostly the age group and the number of zeroes in the paycheck.

Actually most of the Porsche folks I've met have been pretty cool.

If owning an ITR is a religion,
https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=8 is our Church,
and https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch is our Bible.

I've got a 79' 911 Turbo which is called a "930" with an aftermarket exhaust and a mean growl. It's one of those cars where you feel different driving, and sometimes I can understand where the ego comes from even though I don't condone that crap at all, I can unnddeerrsttaanndd it

One thing from being a Porsche lover and diehard fan is the mishap production of the Boxer. It makes sense from a financial point of view for Porsche, and similar cars have come out of Porsche's hangers in the past few decades, but to me the Boxer is equivalent to the VW made 924's etc.

It's a Porsche but its not quite a Porsche.

Certainly though it's the individual and the price tag of the vehicle which certainly speaks who is driving the car. I like the social enthusiast vs. racing enthusiast comparison because then you can imagine how one see's their vehicle and it's purpose. If it was purchased for the social aspect, then most likely the person sees the car as a way to boost his image because of the social implications of say a 2004 911 Turbo (with the aero kit of course), ya your blinging Yet, to another, the Turbo would be a car of a different purpose, one to drive HARD and use the car for its purpose of pure racing and maxing potential while still retaining civility. Of course, if you wanted a pure race car then the noisy gt2 would have been your pick

ed, talk to kelly (kkim). i'm sure he's the same ole' guy.

my pops used to have several 911's, at most points 1 at a time, and one time both the '79 and the '84.

1977 911s coupe
1979 911sc coupe
1984 911 carrera
1989 911 carrera cabriolet
1996 993 coupe

he used to subscribe to another porsche magazine "christophorus". neat magazine, but it seems to focus more on the "social enthusiast" side. panorama looks like a cool magazine too.

kepani-who's jealous of kkim's 993.

I have "talked" to Kelly by H-T IM, and recently bought his 26mm rear Mugen bar.

I'm sure there are "good" folks all over, nomatter what they drive!

I was always a Porsche fanboy but the wallet factor made me look the other direction.

I came to Honda because I felt their Type R models related to why i enjoyed my Porsches, i.e.- short wheel base, light, reliable NA engineering at its best, great handling, basically an enthusiasts race car built for the road. And what a heriatge of Racing success.

the 1973 Carerra RS 2.7 to me is the ITR of Porsche. Very similiar philosophies behind their design (other than the obvious).

I sense ITR and Porsche owners are more of a purist when it comes to motorsport and perhaps the only difference is the weight of each's wallet.

Sadly though, both marques get flooded with clueless image junkies.

I'm certain Porsche and Honda "purists" would get along great basically due to both marques heritage, philosophy and driver invlovement and rewards of both cars.

The major difference I see is that the Porsche guys generally are willing to spend more on their habbit. I've never seen a porsche event run short on participants or have them upset because the cost of participation to an hpde is ~$50 more than they expected.

Along with that comes an older crowd. The average age of the Kansas City PCA that participates in HPDE's is ~35-40. Our Expo's normally fall around age 23-25. I LOVE the R crowd, because I see a great push to help each other succeed - learn from other's mistakes - and enjoy a beer, or two, or three, or four.....

just my .02.

Har har... this is my thread... I`m living in the country where Porsche is made...

Porsche is:
A sign of success. A sign of beeing a better man.... A sign of owning a tiny dick..a sign of beeing divorced.

Two weeks ago I hit the track of Hockenheim. The event cost 270 Euros and a set of tires, further a set of brake rotors and whatever......what really hurt me.

What I saw there I couldn`t believe... GT3-RS, GT2 (what a powerful and expensive car).... crashed into the wall by stupidness. Drivers at the age of 35-40 climbing out of the wrecks with a dirty laugh in the face... sure next week there would be a new hot ride in the driveway because money doesn`t matter..

They looked at me as if I was a human 2nd class and my car a piece of ****.

They had been so cool looking in ther muscle shirts, burnt by the sun with their end of 20 aged unnatural-blond chicks with their Marlboro sounding voices.

You know what ? The difference between me as an ITR driver and this Porsche drivers is ==> I am not that rich but my dick is long enough to stay with my Honda.
