Wilwood or OE brakes for daily driven/road course EF
The car is a '91 Civic with a b-series (~2100 pounds). I daily drive it in the summer only and do 4-5 road course events per year and am anticipating more events in years to come. I use 14" HX wheels for the street and 15" wheels on the track.
The current brake setup is as follows: 91 EX knuckles in the front (10.2 inch rotors) with Carbotech Panther+ pads and rear disc. The car stops great on the road course and never seems to fade and the setup is decent on the street (except for the major dusting).
The brake setup that I am considering is a fastbrakes Wilwood 4-pistion 10.2 inch rotor kit found here: http://www.fastbrakes.com/prod...F10-4 I would not be purchasing this brake kit for better stopping power, but rather for lower unsprung weight. The Wilwood calipers are about 6 pounds lighter than the OE ones I am currently using. I could also switch back from the EX knuckles to some Si knuckles (does anyone know if this saves weight?).
Is the weight savings worth the hassle? Should I just stick with my current setup?

Well I have a 88 Std -- so I needed brakes. I could have gone OEM solution
which means EX knuckles + calipers (rebuilt?) + pads + rotors.
So I went w/ the FastBrakes Wilwood kit instead.
I have to run spacers (add weight) to clear the calipers. And I needed
to upgrade the MC/Booster.
It is lighter, I forgot how much more. Probably a couple pounds.
If you're strictly doing this for weight, I would probably just go with
lighter wheels first.

expensive than vanilla EX/Integra pads.

Wilwood has a 10.2 inch kit and an 11.0 inch kit. I am interested in the 10.2 inch one so that I don't have to get bigger wheels or run a spacer.

If your brakes are not fading why upgrade? Besides depending on what you plan on doing with the car, putting that willwod kit could not you out of a class you might want to run into a class where you need speed much dollars to compete. What Tracks do you road race on?

I race at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Michigan.
I think I have already put myself out of any stockish class with my motor swap.
Another consideration is cost of pads. Panther+ pads for my current setup are $119 a set and the Wilwood pads are around $60.

Umm... I have the 10.2 Wilwood kit and I have to run a 15mm spacer
with a 14" wheel or at least 7mm spacer on 15 wheel. BTW,
you will need to add longer wheel studs if you run spacers.
Add more weight.
Lightweight wheels are under 11 lbs IMO.

No....I use HX wheels on the street and I am pretty stuck on keeping them. I will be using 15s at the track.

Where do you get pads do they have to be special order or are they off another model car?
What size rotors and where would you get those when they need replaced? How much do new rotors cost?
