So the fun began in early january with the purchase of my Eibach Sportlines. I had them professionally installed and I was sure they were done correctly. Well immediatley after that i noticed this nasty clunk from the right rear. It sounded almost like the spring was loose and swirling around in there. I woudl go over rough road and it was make this sick rattling noise until smooth road. Over short bumps it always makes the clap clunk sound. So 2 months later i decided to upgrade my struts to kyb agx's. Thinking this might help just because of reinstallation alone. Nope nothing it still has the sick swirlling rattle and clunk and its driving me insane. Ive tried silicone spray, ive tried making sure its tight in there, I just want it to go away. Yea my cars ride is rough but the clunk makes it feel like im driving a **** box around. Guys I really need you on this one. Oh and it never ever did anything like this before I lowered it

its a 97 ex coupe on stock wheels

 

ive got the same setup.........when im going slow, i can hear the rear springs touching, but its not too loud......what are your AGX's set too?? im at 2 and 6...ride can be a bit "bouncy" on shitty *** roads and highways, but nothing too harsh, and on smoth roads, the ride quality is, IMO, better than stock

 

yea it really doesnt matter where I set the agx's it still clunks. It only does it on the right side too. Its awful on rough road it sounds like its loose, like its moving in their, its very audible. Do you think it could just a defective spring?

 

demand the place that installed them fix the problem...if it cant be fixed, get different springs. ive got an agx/sportline combo just like you, only its on a 4th gen. i have no problems whatsoever, so hell. just demand perfection from the shop!

 

well seeing as they have been installed twice and its still the same problem. I am really really starting to think its the spring.

I just did and they said they are sending me sound deadening kit. I guess it wraps on the coils on the spring. Hope it works, Thanks

its funny you say that, we had a guy with a 95 240sx in my shop a few weeks back claiming the same problem. he had just had a different shop put on new KYB AGXs on the car. only one corner made the noise. we suspected a broken strut plate but after dissasembling the rear passenger strut (where the noise was) we realized the spring was in upside down needless to say, we flip flopped and everything was as it shpuld be from there on. we charged the kid a 25 dollar diagnostic fee and he was happy as hell.

 

In my 91 i have the same springs, with some cutting down though. and I was getting a noise in the right rear. But I found it was the strut mount top. It has the rubber in it that holds the strut rod centered, and it was moving side to side over bumps. put in a new bushing and noise was gone. might make sure the shop test them too. Hard to see with the strut out. Have to have someone in the trunk watching it moves as another drives. Was about the only we could see that mine were bad.

 

i got a 94 accord ex that came lowerd (idk what springs are in it) but it usually has made SOME nois from the back right. Just this past weekend i had to go get some bricks from the hardwares store and i put em in the trunk. On the drive home i knoticed that the nois had stopped, so it might just be that theres nothing holding the springs down from rattleing. I might try some tiedowns or somting too see if i could fix mine.
