Default ADVICE ON NEW PARTS FOR MY TYPE R

I need advice, I finally got some cash. I'm thinkin bout buying three things for my 98 type R.

FIRST.
I need a short shifter. Any recommendations on short shifter brand and ****?
I was thinking the skunk2 **** and shifter, but I wanna buy the best. Would you reccomend a double or single bend...sorry I dont want to sound like a dumbass but i have no f'in clue what the difference is.

SECOND.
I was thinking about gettin a different steering wheel. I was thinkin of getting a JDM steerin wheel with the red honda emblem, but I also thought, why dont I get a steering wheel that is really "aftermarket?" any opinions or suggestions on nice steering wheels?

THIRD.
soon a jdm conversion...but, do you know anyone who regretted it?

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE...ANYBODY

Why do you need a short shifter?

Spend the money on some tires and autox/track time

But you want a JDM front end?

Autox is cheap fun, usually $20-$25 for an event.

You don't need a short shifter. Stock is already pretty short. Short shifting is in the feet, not in the hands.

You're going to find that a lot of the people in this forum are into autoxing and/or tracking their cars. So you're going to get a lot of answers about learning to drive (no, REALLY drive) the car before you go doing needless mods to it.

If you want to change the appearance of the car for aesthetic reasons alone, it's your choice, but you might get better answers in the Appearance/Cosmetic forum...

HTH

Edit: sorry, I guess trial users aren't allowed in Apperance/Cosmetic? Maybe try Integra forum...

Durastic actually stumped me for a minute.

Take a look at this regret post before you make any moves: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=941534

Because although I poked fun at the poster mostly because of his original title that was changed, it will give you a great idea of what Most R owners wish they did differently or never did at all.

The only reason I don't have any regrets is that I'm on my 3rd Gen3 Teg and 2nd R and at this point, I have researched, read, used the Search function and read some more before asking many questions that I couldn't find the answers to. I'm pretty methodical and created a good plan and goal for the car Before I did anything. But, I also learned from prior mistakes and bad advice.

Take your time and do it right the first time.

&

You get what you pay for.

Don't buy or mod the car simply because you think you need to, or feel the need to burn a whole in your pocket with the money you may have.

If you really need to spend some money, maybe prepay your years insurance or make an early payment on the car.

And do yourself a huge favor and hit at least 1 Autocross, which will cost less than any short shifter or shift **** or JDM steering wheel:

http://www.nasaproracing.com/a....html

or

http://www.scca.org

Learn how to drive the car before you mod, mod the other way around.

Best of luck

Why?

Because you sell them?

Why will he or anyone else not be happy with the R's stock suspension, when they just got it and don't really know which way to go first?

That's some relatively expensive advice you're giving him isn't it?

The stock suspension is very capable and needs nothing for someone starting out.

Are you just recommending them because you sell them?

Where's the shock dyno charts?

Expensive no not really? not when your looking at all the items that are available as upgrades

i suggested the suspension first, because how many time have you read that they buy xx and xx and xx an then sell it

suepension is the first thing 100+ ppl will do on their car.. untill they know what they want..

suspension is almost a 50-50 thing.. something that if you want to go track you can keep and if you want to autocross you ll be fine with it.

I suggest omni cause its a damm good item, but if you read , i also so sad or something in that area..

what you want him to do? buy a kit or some kind of bolt on? I/E/H are going to run more.. and then in six months youll end up replacing it if he dont go that route~!

Doesnt help anyone if you dont share them....

There is no reason to upgrade the suspension, especially if you are a n00b driver and dont know what you want or how to evaluate the feedback you will get from it, you will make it harder to learn and just end up chasing your tail to get it "right".

assumption: if you read his first post, he never mentions his driving ability or what he already has.. he could be someone who quite frequently go's to the track

all he stated was that he thinks he needs shifter, steering wheel and maybe jdm conversion..

i suggest suspenions if he didnt already, where to get the shifter.. just because they are anoob on the site, dont mean they cant drive or never been to an event~
its still early in the thread.. breathe easy~

or also id mention to get full buddy club coilvoers if he had the money.. but i took his post as a best bang style thread.

A good short shifter, like a C's, is an improvement over stock.

Same goes for a well made smaller diameter steering wheel. Take a look at MOMO, Sparco, OMP, etc. But you have to be willing to give up your airbags. I'm not sure I'd do that to a strictly street car.

JDM front end conversions are a waste of money.

The above comments are simply my opinion. I have a C's DPS and an OMP Superquadro and love the **** out of both.

track it. then decide whether you need new suspension or tires .. dont get a new steering wheel when u dont need it. jz autoX your car. it was meant for that.

1. Stock shifter is more than fine.

2. Get JDM SRS steering wheel if you daily drive your car. It feels awesome.

1) I've been using the Z-Speed one which is the former company name for Skunk2. It's been fine without any problems. Get the JDM ITR titanium shift ****. It feels, weighs, looks and fits right. I "heard" that the Skunk2 has fading issues. Not sure though.

2) JDM ITR steering wheel looks good. I prefer the look of the SRS one more.
Any Momo is fine too. I'm using Momo Race and it's good.

3) My buddy had it and he loved it so much.

Default Re: ADVICE ON NEW PARTS FOR MY TYPE R (Project X)

1) JDM ITR Ti shift **** with stock shifter. Great feel, easy install, no short shifter drawbacks.

2) JDM ITR SRS steering wheel. I've driven a few of these, and they are much better than stock. Seem to be hard to find these days tho, and I'm still looking for one.

3) If you don't go JDM front end, do one of the HID mods in the stock headlights (search or post seperately, there are too many different ones and I don't know which is 'best').

Bonus #4) Good tires, or header and high flow cat. Unless you are going to autox frequently at a high level, or track the car, you don't need suspension. The stock R sus is very very good. It also has lots of advantages, like wheel travel, and not bottoming the lip, oil pan, exhaust into driveways and the like.

Im just gonna answer your question.

1. C's Short shifter is the best and team it up with a spoon shift ****.
2. Get a Spoon steering wheel w/ signal quick release hub or JDM srs steering wheel

Thanks...sounds good...I think imma go with the JDM srs steering wheel and i guess forget the short shifter but get that titanium jdm ****...I'm not a noobie *** driver, but i dont really bring it to the track...i get advice about tein coil over sus. but some say the type R suspension is coo already and undoing the factory type r suspension is undoing the millions of dollars that honda researched for that.
so i dont know...any more advice on JDM FRONT END????
