5w30 or 10w30

just need some info witch should i use? whats the difference? I got a 96' vtec with about 90,000 with header,intake,pulleys,msd sparklug wires.

I think HOnda recommends 5/30 for summer, 10/40 for winter.

As a general rule of thumb:

Thinner oil for frequent cold starts
Thicker oil for continuous high load (ie autox)

Since it's an older car, go with the 10w-30, it'll burn slower/less oil than the 5w-30.

5w-30's are better for new cars.

90k miles and now you wonder what oil to use? what have you been using?

in the sept. 2004 issue of turbo mag they have an article called "oil basics: are you choosing the right oil for your ride".

thought maybe you'll find it helpful.
