Default brake upgrade

hey guys, so i did a rear disc swap onto my ef9. only thing i'm wondering is for those who also have it done. what is the difference you feel in your braking performance, remember this is a swap from a 90 da. i c none, at least i feel none. iono. could this be because my rotors? they are cheapo ones from kragen/autozone. also could it be that i should get SS lines to improve/maintain pressure in the pistons? let me know.

i am also working on saving money to do the front, something like da/dc. i want to put the itr calipers on w/ lude vtec rotors but will settle for 10.2" brakes with gsr calipers or something. for future upgrade i will be putting on SS lines for sure. probably first... before front conversion. along with 1" master cylinder.

also about the MC what brake booster is necessary? can it be any one or should it be the matching one for the MC? let me know.. i have to play around with different senerios.

brakes are great to mess with, right guys?? haha.. thanks for your input!! = ~)

I want to do the disc brake set up too. What did you use? Any sensors installed?

wait so your running the OEM MC? that could be why it didn't help you need to run the DA MC

You really should hit the search button, cause this has being discussed so many times.

Anyways for you info, alot better stopping power. There is a but, if you don't change your Proportioning valve then you will have the same feeling. Just make sure it has the stamp "4040"

As for the MC, get the 15/16" for the 90-91 Civic Ex. Keep your BB it doesn't matter which one you have.

SS Brake lines are always good if you got the $$. It kills that squish brake feel when you step on it hard.

But please do a search, loooooooooooooooot of info.

brake lines
brake cable
dust cover

i've looked at some MC.. specifically da MC and i found that the bolt patterns are different. is this the same for most MC??? anyone with knowledge here??

and which car has the 4040 proportioning valve?? i've looked at a bunch and only found ones like 1520, 1230, 2525... some numbers like this imprinted on the pp valve...

a lot of people have said that honda/acura with rear disc should ahve 4040 but i'm not sure about that one.

can anyone re-ensure me???

Do get the 15/16" from the 90-91 Civic EX

Do not use the DA MC for well you found out.......

4040 Prop.valve are on all Hondas with Rear Disc brakes. It is stamped on the side.

You shouldn't have any problems getting this 4040 valve cause lots of DA in the Yard and noone takes it. If not then I can get it for you if you pay for shipping and for the part, I believe the Yard charges lik $5.00 for it.

no, sorry to confuse you

the abs would come from a da or other newer models... i would like to install it into my ef..

stock ef with abs doesn't exists.. at least not from my knowledge.. possibly in japan.. but i don't know.. i have read that the earlier abs systems weren't as prominent as todays.

customizing abs systems into an ef would be interesting... it would probably have to be installed along with engine swaps.. cause i believe that the system depends on the ecu to monitor the wheel sensors..

so yeah, with a b18 swap or something 94-95 civic ex d-series it could be possible. i haven't seen the wiring so i'm not sure.

correct me if i am wrong...

is there any need to go with the larger 1" MC..

yeah i'm sure my 13/16" MC does have a reason for my braking power to be reluctant in performing.

are you asking WHY INSTALL ABS????

well i want to be able to brake hard without worrying about lock-ups.. pretty much it is something of a personal matter where i feel as though abs would improve my stoping distance. i don't know otherwise. = ~)

i would just like to upgrade every part of the system towards improvement.

hmm.. a lot of people like to remove abs right?? well do these people really try out their abs?? and see how it works?? before/after affect. it seems like a lot of drivers like to rear end others..

i know the feeling that is why i want to improve my braking power.. so my stupidity will have a buffer zone. ::
