I've got this set up: b18c block, b16a head, pr-3 pistons, port and polish, three angle valve job, total seal rings, spoon head gasket (2 layer) 11.74:1 Cr, skunk2 intake manifold, 62mm bored tb, Itr cams, kms dual valve springs, titanium retainers, mugen ecu vtec @4500 (disabled o2 sensor), msd ingnition and coil, airmass headers. Dynoed at 170 whp, 123 ftlbs torque.
WTF!!! What am I doing wrong here? Do I need a cam gears or what else?

first off, your tb is way too small....a 70mm should get you started where you need to go, of course port matching your manifold for your new tb would help too.... then i would switch out your cams for something a bit wilder, get some sprockets..... then a better header..... obtw, what exhaust are you running? should be no smaller than 2.5"s, but don't go 3"..... finally get the damn thang tuned and you should be well on your way.... hope this helps....

eddie...

Does it matter what brad name header I get? I hear DC JDM is pretty good. But I've seen generic headers at ebay with the 2.5" collector 4-1 style for under a hundred. I also notice black smoke comming out during higher rpm's around 8000 rpm and up.

a little bit of black smoke is ok but if your blowing alot, you are running to rich and the fuel needs to be turned down. that can also hinder you hp if you have to much fuel

Ken, doesn't this stuff sound familiar? Do as he and I say, and with the basic stuff that you already have in place the car should improve greatly.

Angel just trying to get a second opinion. After all you can never know too much right? By the way I gave your number to a couple of people, hopefully I can get a discount on tunning after some refferals. But no disrespect, you do know you ****.

We went over that as well..... unfortunately, the only adjustable item he has is timing and we did pick up a little by setting that correctly. He needs a better header, cam gears, 2.5 " exhaust, and something to adjust fuel at a min (ideally something to adjust both fuel and timing tables). He had come to me just to baseline and get some idea where he was and where he should go from this point.
