GSR Tranny, Odd 3rd Gear Problem, please help....
Ok i have this posted up in the Integra forum also, but i figured maybe there are people in here that drive other cars that have had a similair problem.
Ok heres basically the problem. About a week ago i was taken my car thru the gears, redline first, shift, redline second, shift, then going into third i hit was seems to be a wall. No grind or throwback, just a wall, if i had to describe it it seems as tho i didnt push the clutch in, and if i pushed hard enough it will grind real lightly and throw it back, so its just like the clutch isnt engaged. So i tried again, and same thing, then a few days ago the same thing. So since that first time, at high rpm shifts, 3rd gear wont go in unless i pause and go straight in. The weird part is that the tranny is perfect all the time otherwise, smooth in every gear when regular driving, and just above like 6 grand shift in 2nd will it go in rough. So i tightened up the shifter bushings, made sure the clearance was ok with my 3inch exhaust and went to experiment again. This time i slid it outta 2nd and pushed a little more to the right and it goes in, yet it still seems to "tap" that wall. but it does go in. So at first i thought it was synchros or soemthing, but now it seems to be alignment somewhere. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts? It kinda confuses me and its not the way i had to shift a few weeks ago for it.
BTW, 4k mile old tranny synchromesh in it.

bent/ broken shift fork- if it's nothing obstructing the action outside the tranny, then it's a shift fork issue
cause its definetly nothing outside the tranny thats in the way of the linkages or anything. im thinkin it could be motor mounts too. but how extensive are those shifter forks?
shift forks are def replaceable---though, it's one of those situations where if you go in the trans to replace that, while it's apart, you should either spec everything out and see what's worn to the limit and what's not, OR, replace the most typical wear items, aside from your busted shift fork, like 1-2-3 synchros
if it was me, i'd just get another trans, unless you are very handy with this stuff and/ or you can have the car off the road while you crack it open, order stuff, etc-
Anyone highly experienced in IL that can give you educated second opinion?

Yea i figure if i went in to do that, id prolly do the other wear items too. Buying a new trans is kinda outta the question for now, as far as funds go. How much to forks and synchros go for?
Id like to see if there is someone local too that specializes in this crap, to check it out. thanx

i replaced the forks and will be kind to the forks\. but i got the tranny used and it grinded from the day i got it. but i pulled it apart when i spun a rod bearing only to find the syncros in good shape and two of the forks broken. you can buy 1 brand new fork of hondaautomotive.com parts for about $50-60. hope thats all the problem is.
good luck!
good luck!
