Default Question on Painting Wheels

I would like to paint my stock Prelude wheels. They have somewhat been abused however. I have read the string on painting them and my question is this, what can I use to fill deep scrapes with that will not throw the balance of the wheel out? epoxy? Thanks Rhett

Not very big, smaller than the thickness of a dime and probably less than the thickness of a paper clip deep. My concern is that if I sand them down to much it would create small crators noticeable once the rims are painted.

I helped my friend paint his gsrs that were in prety bad shape, we sand them them, washed them and applied like 5-6 coats of gun metal and like 4-5 coats of clear, you should just put some epoxy let it dry and sand it down, that should work very well make sure its nice and smoth before you start painting them

Not just any epoxy will do. Try something like POR-15's putty epoxy ( http://www.por-15.com ), something formulated for filling in metal. Build up the area a little because many epoxies shrink when curing. Last, you might want to actually make the scrapes a little bigger to give the epoxy enough area to effectively bond.
