Default Cluster swap on a 01 Accord

I am about to buy a new gauge cluster for my 01 Accord because of a bad indiglo gauge install. The problem is the cluster on the Accord I am getting it from has a lot of mileage. Now the question... does my Accord's computer hold my mileage or does the cluster hold the information? I cannot find one person that can give me a definent answer before I buy it.

your ecu does not hold your mileage, your cluster does. since your car is pretty new, i would suggest that you buy a new guage cluster with almost the same amount of miles you have on your previous one. i had the same problem, but the cluster i got had less miles than my previous one. i have a 93, so i wanted more miles cause i was almost at 200k but oh well.

Ya in that case then I might as well get a new one then. It was cheap and I need one pretty soon. But since I am looking at almost double the mileage I think I'll go with the new one then. Thanks!

no need, unless you have changed title possesion of your car. when you change title of the car, the dmv makes you list the mileage, otherwise, no one but you knows the mileage of your car. if you want, you could even disconnect the speedometer cable to you car and drive cross country and lose no miles(hehe). not like ive done that before. but i prefer having more miles since i was almost at 200k, but i got set back to 172k wheni changed my cluster. nothing illegal about changing the cluster.
