Crazy problem with my b18c1
Ok here is the low down, i have a 95 b18c1 in my 1994 si. The misfiring is at random and causes vtec to cut off.I am getting the cel for the heated o2 sensor, so i replaced it. I have changed rotor button, plugs, wires, checked the timing, and all of my wiring involved with the swap. Sometimes the check engine light is on and other times it is off, when it is on the misfire happens. I am thinking it maybe a short in the ecu. But i wanted another opinion before trying that.
thanks matt

sounds like injector or coil, or maybe one of your spark plugs is fooled. I think what happens you just either end up with too much fuel in your cylinder, or you are just not burning it up.
yeah just pull your spark plugs and see what they look like. then test the coil. if that doesn't work try getting as set of injectors which should be cheap.
ok cool, i could see that as being a problem also. But i had the fuel bumped up a week or so back and i think it may have screwed up one of the injectors so i am going to try that first.

My friend had the same problem in his ls civic. He changed the injector and did a complete tune up, still didnt solve the problem. He later found out that his valves were out of adjustment. Hopefully this might help you out
after you changed the o2, and you said you still got temporary cels, was it still the o2 cel that you were getting? if not which one, i had a similar problem but it was just that my vtec pressure selenoid power wire was lose in the connector, fixed that and the car ran fine.
i am getting the o2 cel, but i do believe that there is a fuel problem because it is random, but i checked those wires just a second ago and they were fine
How many miles are on this motor? Sounds like it maybe a couple of different things. If the motor has higher miles like 100k or over. Very well might be a oil pump trying to go bad. That will cause a check engine light and cause VTEC to not engage and the car to run funny. The other thing is the ECU like you had earlier mentioned.
ok i think i figured it out, i talked to a few guys from import autoslavage when i was picking a motor up for a friend and there tech ricky things it is what is called limp mode. I have never herad of it before, but he GAVE me another ecu to try but ti didn't help, so i must be a damaged wire in the ecu
. But once again thanks everyone for the help, and i would recommend import auto salavage to anyone.
