id say if u can afford an s2000 w/ no worrys, and you can handle the s2000 financially. but being since that you still have so much time ahead of you, id say hold the civic for a bit. im 20 right now, and i got my first car when i was 16-17. i crashed my 1st car, sold the 2nd, now i have an s2. however i still miss my hatchback. moding the s2000 isnt cheap. i still wish i didnt sell my hatch, but things happen. you have alot of plans which is good. im not trying to be bias on your age, but you still have alot of time. the civic with the k20 seems like an interesting project, it will keep you busy.

you can mod the civic all you want, but nothing beats RWD, drop top, 6 gears and an LSD

Dunno I think you should go with the k-swap civic.... tune it right and do the right stuff you'll probably be faster and happier.

well considering my two buddies just raced and the s2000 actually won
s2000 had intake

rsx had k20 type r swap intake and exhaust.

it was a very even race the s2000 just hooked up so nice off the line and the k20 did like a 10 yard burnout. rwd all the way it spun one tire rotation and left like a bat out of hell. honestly i think if i was driving the k20 i could have won but barely i mean barely.

The s2k is not a straight line car, take it to the twistys and you will realize how much more fun it is than going straight. Try driving a friends s2k or somthing for a day and see how well the steering and shifting feels.

If you're into drag racing, i would go for the civic. Theres no real point in making the S2000 a drag racing car. Its heavy and parts for it are expensive. Where as the civic can be made extremely light, parts are readily available for it, and its proven to be competitive in the straights with the proper set up. You can mod the civic however much you want, but it still won't have the feeling the S2000 has around the corners. Not to mention the CHICK FACTOR involved with the S2000 .

I would buy an S2000 and NOT modify it at all. Yes I would drive the **** out of it daily and at autocrosses and probably even trackschools once I got a rollbar in there.

I would have bought one by now insted of keeping my hybrid hatch for 3+ years but insurance is too high for me with an S2000 here, without being married and without being a homeowner, its just not feasible yet.

I whole-heartedly agree with you on not modifying an S2k. I've no desire to tear into my 04 at all. Maybe put the front lip and rear spoiler on.

Have you gotten insurance quotes from your current carrier as well as others? I've found that it's not all that high. Def. not as high as I thought it was going to be. How old are you, too? Age and driving record will probably be the bigger factors in your insurance rates. I'm in the same boat as you...single, living at home, and pretty young. BUT, I have a clean driving record. Full coverage on the 04 with $500 deductibles is less than $1800 yearly.

If your drag racing, I'd say neither. Anything else I'd say S2k. The civic is a good budget car, but you really can't beat RWD. Donuts rule

Actually no, I'm not. The numbers may not be as high as 260, maybe closer to 250, but the new engine is underrated in power.
