Any ITR owner here using a Spoon Sports filter?
Was thinking of trying the Spoon Sports air filter element but I definately don't want to throw down $ 120 for a filter if it's a disposable filter (ie. needs to be changed at a regular interval). Can anyone give me some first hand experience on this product?
It is not a disposable filter - it is reusable. You just need to clean and oil it regularly. Instead of the Spoon filter you might as well save some money and get the Comptech filter.

there is no recharge kit. the japanese instructions say to use a neutral solution to get that stuff out. heck, some people even vacuum their filters

i have a spoon filter and i also need mine cleaned. i am just going to go to a moto-x shop and get a uni air filter kit cleaner. the uni filters are foam and so are the spoon ones so i figured that it would work.
yup. no oil needed whatsoever! if you don't have a "filter cleaner", you can also use dish soap (dawn) to break down the dirt and oil on the foam. just rinse it VERY well!
* just be sure that when you rinse, you flush the water from the inside of the foam filter to the outside. you don't want any of the entrapped debris to get pushed towards the inner core. *

update: i jut cleaned mine with the uni filter kit and it worked great. the kit includeds oil and the cleaner. the kit was like 11 bucks and brought the filter back to its orginal yellow color.
The foam doesn't deteriorate over time does it? (ie. getting ripped and starts shedding like a dog in the engine bay after constant use and repeated washing)
