went thru puddle & took in water
I went thru a deep puddle last night & got stuck in the middle, i think my intake took in water since its in my bumper. what exactly happens when water goes in & how big of a problem can it be?
it can be major trouble I did the same thing last year and it cause my motor to blow I mean it made it throw a rod and put a hole through both sides the block. My gurlfriend did the same to her prelude and it messed the head up.
The water will wash away the oil in the cyl's and ther for they have no lubrication. It would be the same effect as running your car with no oil in it. Motor will go boom.
you may want to check the oil. well i guess if there is water in there yer prob not gonna tell unless it was started and then it will be milky. if its milky buy enough oil for 2 or three oil changes, change it right away and start it for about 10 seconds and check the oil again.
i did the same thing last week while i was on vacation six hundred miles away from home and i didn't have any of my tools. we had a lot of rain at the beach and i couldn't avoid the puddle. i saw it coming, dropped it into nuetral and rolled through it. then i saw the tach drop to zero. cranked it back up and it ran like it was running on three cylinders. i let it idle for about 20 minutes and after that it ran ok. i'm lucky to have a motor running right now. its because on my way to the beach on I40 in greensboro NC my fender liner ripped out and got all messed up so i have to rip it all the way out so i had no protection for my filter. after i ran through the puddle i switched my intake to short ram since its a two piece CAI.
the best thing to do is first pull your plugs and have someone with a towel in each hole, then try to crank the car. it will push all the water in the combustion chamber upwards. if it doesn't crank. then try manually turning the crank by taking off your driver side wheel and sticking your tire iron on the crank bolt and turning the crank. if it doesn't turn then your motor is probably seized up.

check your oil and plugs.. maybe wires
if its still running ok, your ok.. it didnt take too much
mainly if your screwed you ll know you will hydolock right away, and it sucks! car dies.. you ll know

water doesnt wash away oil....well, it may, but thats not the problem.......water doesnt compress like the AF mixture.....so it has to go somewhere, which means holes in your engine
more deadly than anything is water will not compress as mentioned above... so on the compression stroke if you get too much water in the engine... you have an instant recipe for bent valves, broken rod or rods, and sometimes windowing your block.
i too bent a rod when going through a puddle with my first h22a...it drove like **** for two weeks afterwards (made shitty power) and then decided to puke a rod through the block...

i used to live in a place where it rained A LOT. so remember when u always used to learn to drive by looking at dad do it, well my dad always used to put it in first and rev it, i mean mid-range, and at the same time letting the cluth so u actually move and don't get stuck. years later i found out why.

im pissed you went through high water in your accord.... it so freeking dumb when people try and go through a flood in there car and sometime truck... why take the chance then you are stuck in this problem and could possably have a blown motor.... well just check it all over in the motor and make sure its all dry...good luck
HAHAH How can you be Pissed at What someone else did? LOL *sigh* Keep a eye out on the exhaust . I seen this happen B4. you notice alot of Excess steam like substance comeing out of the Exhaust . YOu Need to Drain and leave the oit Drain out for about Oh 2-3 hours to completely drain out the oil/water. then Change it . Might wanna slide over to Synthetic. I might get slammed hard on this but ive seen it done and car still going . *shrug* Just my 2 cents on this Post
