How much is too much to remove from the block deck?

I just bought a short block that came with a scratch in the deck that goes from one of the combustion sleeves out to the water jacket area.... The scratch is probably not deeper than 0.010 but, with a stock b18c5 head, how much is too much to remove from the block deck before clearance becomes an issue - with a stock head gasket.
