Help with brakes
I am planning to pick up a set of Brembo blanks. My question is what is a good set of brake pads to match up with them and why? I don't want to hear "because they're m4d tyTe Jdm y0!" I would like some reasons. Is it because of how they're made or what they're made of? Is it because of the length of time it will take to wear down(the disc and/or pads)? The car they are going on will be mainly daily driven, but I would like to get into autoX. So I would like something that I don't have to switch out everytime I go to the track. Or do you guys think I should have two kinds? One for street and one for track.
EDIT:I've just searched and read the thread posted a few days ago. Just wanted to add a few more questions. Are the brembos any good for autoX? What would you recommend in their place? I'm a total noob when it comes to autoX so any help would be appreciated. If you want, throw some suggestions in for the rest of the brake system and suspension. In the mean time I'll be doing some searching. Thanks.

I can get OE-spec Brembo rotors for my car for less $ than "real" VW rotors cost from any source so I buy them to save some green. That said, there isn't likely any inherent, measurable advantage to them for street/auto-X use, other than potentially better consistency and build quality than whatever no-name thing NAPA is selling this month.
As far as pads go, I'm not personally convinced that any particular pad "likes" any particular rotor more than any other. I've seen "pad and rotor systems" for sale and written that off as clever marketing rather than anything grounded in science.
None of that really answers your specific question but it might be food for thought in the bigger picture...
