OT: Bad-ass daily driver idea...
I've been kicking another idea around for all of this evening.
Has anyone ever seen a Hyundai with a 4G63 swap? Apparently they already use an N/A version of it, and a turbo'd version can be bought for around $1000 bucks.
I heard Extreme Motorsports in MD has a Scoupe doing 8's with a 4G63, and that dropping one into a Sonata can be good for low-13-second 1/4 mile sprints, w/no modifications to the motor.
Seems like a hell of an idea. Anyone know of someone who's done it?

A friend and I were debating whether or not the Accent will swallow the 4G. I guess it will...more to chew on.
Since the Hyundais use a non-turbo version of the 4G, I wonder if I will still get the 100K/10yr warranty..

Yes.
Yes.
A guy here in Toronto has had that swap(4g63 in his Sonata) for at least 5 years. It's nothing new. He's putting down about 450whp now after a full build.
Down in Puerto Rico, 4G63 swaps into Hyundais is fairly common .. You would be amazed of all the crazy s*it we do just to "go-fast"
Other than the kaka-load of swapped Hondas, there are a ton of 90-94 Mazda 323 with jdm 1.8DOHC turbo engines, Hyundais with anything from 4G63s to boosted Scoupe engines, and the list goes on !!

Now I'm just kicking around the idea of buying a 91/92 Galant VR-4. Apparently for $6K, you can basically buy the car, fix it up, and have around 350 hp to the wheels. Galant VR-4 = Budget EVO
i know someone local to me who did it in a like 90 Excel. from what i heard it wa sp0retty balsy, he built it i guess as a hill climb car
I heard Hyundai cars fall apart if acceleration from 0-60mph is under 6 sec.
The only thing you don't have to worry about is the engine, the rest....

From a scooter to a hyundai... at least you're moving up!

Dont kid yourself into thinking those are reliable daily drivers, especially at those power levels.

What do you mean? From everything I hear from the Galant owners, it's not hard to make that kind of power and have those motors last. Even if they blow, they cost like $1000.

In that case, why not try to stuff a turbo motor in the front and another turbo motor in the trunk like that SCC ultimate streetcar challenge tiburon of a while back.....?
