Default help, valve cover nut wont come off!

Well, I just finished my valve adjustment which took like 5 1/2 hours. had to do it twice and also go out and buy some new gaskets. well i finished everything and put the valve cover back on. i was torquing all the nuts down to spec, but then the nut kept spinning. so i said forget it, i'll go back to it after i finish the other nuts. well the same thing happened to another nut. i've tried unscrewing it, but it doesn't seem to unscrew. what do you think i should do?? should i try and cut it off or something and buy new nuts and bolts??

Sounds like you either cross threaded it or stripped it. I think the studs for those valve cover nuts mount inside the head, so you may have to recut the threads with a die if you stripped it or cross threaded it. Look carefully atthe treads. There is also a possibility thge stud post came looose. Look carefully and you should be able to see which it is.

same thing happened to me while putting my valve cover on. It just kept spinning i might take a dremel to it and pop out the valve cover and change the stud

just replace the nuts and studs, theyre pretty cheap from honda.......i always keep about 4 or 5 spares as i'm always either shearing the nut off or doing the same as you and causing the nut to spin on the stud. I end up just cutting the nut off, removing the valve cover, screwing out the stud and replacing nut/stud with new ones.
