Accord Type-R Info
This "newbie" is looking for info from the more experienced folks out there.... I've been looking at options to upgrade from my '91 CRX-DX. Been a great car since new, but its' 11-year old chasis is starting to show its' age. For this reason, I'd decided against updating the ReX as I'm looking for a reliable daily driver (with some juice).
I've fallen in love w/ the Euro Type-R Accord, but info appears to be sparce. Can someone out there tell me what would be involved in "building" a domestic 6th-Gen Accord EX Coupe into a Type-R? What engine? Any tranny differences? Other mods?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Well, the Euro Accord uses a tuned H22 motor. The Prelude Type S motor is the closest you can get to it.
If you want to go complete conversion, you would have to get ahold of an entire suspension setup from one. They have a coilover setup in front, and have a 5 lug hub assembly. They struts are also tuned for a better handling car. Anti-sway bars are also thicker.
You will also have to get ahold of the headlight assemblies. Not too mention the seats.
That is only a partial list. I will try to get you all of the information that I have on the car, if I can still find it.

Check out the following website. You will need a language translator for your browser to view it though.

f20b is the engine series I beleive.
Jigga what!? So technically hybrid accords w/ the h22 swap are close to the Type-r besides looks, susupension? Crazy ****. I wonder why there aren't any type-1 conversion kits (motor, tranny, suspension, looks) unless there is one already out there that I'm not aware of.

Pretty much. You can purchase the pistons, intake manifold, and have the head slightly ported, and it would be very close to a Type R Spec motor.
I do nto know of any conversion kits. I would love to find one.

i noticed that you are using a GSR ecu on your prelude motor, does that work
really good..
do you have to reprogram the ecu to run on h22 ecu spec.
does all the wiring macthup?
e-mail me back.

Xav I think he replied to your other post in the other forum. Yeah that conversion would be nice, but I mean it would be ungodly expensive, for me anyways, but not for you JAMES! *****.

ATR have H22A7 engines in 'm. Mine ran 0-100kph in 6.9 sec and 0-400m 14.8 stock on the g-tech. I installed a K+N replacement filter and replaced silencers by double Remus boxes without improvement. (despite my butt telling me that I got more oomph at lower revs....car seems to be consuming a little less of the recommended 98-octane fuel, though).
Cheers.
* CW ATR number 44 of 50 in the Netherlands (In winter hibernation)
* Pirates Black Accord 1.8LS vtec (companycar)

I'd imagine if you spent all that money on a conversion, then you could afford to get it painted any color you wanted, but I'd imagine those are the colors that they sell overseas.

You are my hero.
Check out the links provided in "Big James" reply. If you go to the UK web site, there are only the three basic colors available. If you check the specs/features at the Honda-Japan web site, however, they show the car as being availavble in about 8 different colors (See http://www.honda.co.jp/ACCORDEURO-R/spcf/index.html). It may vary by country...
