Install question? ie what would you do?
I live in the sacrameto are and am going to use the same tuner Austin uses who is in the bay area. my question is should i install my jdm 4-1 header here and drive 200 miles or so on the stock ecu that i am sure will throw a code on my stock ecu and i dont want to run my hondata because the base program is horrible, or should i lugg all my tools down to san jose and do it at my moms house which would only be 10 minutes away from the shop? i know i should probably do it in san jose but would i be hurting anything by driving that far on an obd2 ecu with one of the censors out?
why do you have to take out an o2 sensor when installing a jdm 4-1 header? Does this mean you have a test pipe, or what? if you have a hi flow cat to match up to the header, you can connect both sensors.
I see no reason to be concerned about installing the header first.
Chris - wondering if Austin is getting close to home yet. (he stopped off in kenosha as me and AA continued on to Milwaukee on sunday night)

chris, i did get a high flow cat from smsp but i got an obd1 version to save a little $ and i will be running hondata after im tuned. i probably should have gottten an obd2 cat but thats in hindsight
Paul,
If you unplug the 2ndary o2 and drive to the tuner, you will be fine. Sure, you'll have a CEL, but it will not have ANY bearing on the performance of the car. Might want to wrap the plug (and tape it up somewhere) that goes up into the body of the car once you unplug the o2 sensor.. dont want it dangling around below the car.
Hope that helps.

Like Chris is saying the CEL shouldn't effect the kaa.
Also to pull up the secondary 02 there is a lil blue rubber grommet right underneath the stereo on the floor.. make sure to pull it through so it doesn't drag/melt.

ok i have another question can i reuse all the bolts that hold my stock cat to my stock header? the reason i ask is because i was just gonna ask len if he could get me another set of spring bolts so i could just assemble the header cat combo outside, then slide it up...this will also save time for when i go to switch back to stock for smog reasons. thanks
Unless there is some premature rust, you can reuse the spring bolts currently on the car.
I would go ahead and install the JDM header, risk the CEL, and just reset the ECU when you get down there. And make sure the O2 sensor is safe...those things are expensive to replace.
