Default European model CRX...

Hey guys I am trying to get a 4th gen rex or a 4th gen hatch, I am stationed in Germany right now and they will ship a car back when I leave next year for free. But it has to be US specs, which is nothing, simply replace the headlights, taillights, windshield and corners, and I think thats it...

Now my question is will the ZC be able to be smogged in the states? I have my 5th gen hatch in the states with a b18c1 and it has its BAR sticker, so I need to know if I can get one with the rex and the ZC, because pretty much all the crx's came with a zc in germany...

I know a few ppl who have smogged their crxs in cali with SOHC ZCs, since it looks almost identicle to the stock motor. But the DOHC is a different story. Illegal smogs in cali are usually around $200. - Darrell

I know I can get it smogged once it gets to the states, I am just wondering if I can even ship it to the states...the army is gonna ship it, so maybe I can sneak it past. Because it has to meet "us specs" before I ship it, and that usually just entails the windshield, and the lights...but I dunno...I mean if I could get it into the states I'd be home free, I could just do a motor swap, but out here I'm limited...

Well I just checked their website, they wont let me bring it back, even if I do it all myself, because only a DOT certified person can do it and they charge $$$ (i'm trying to get the car for like 500 euro)

Oh well I guess I'll buy the car and have my cp-035's sent over, and buy some nice rubber for them and take it to the many tracks out here bone stock till i leave germany then sell it to someone before i leave next august. I should be able to sell it for about $1000 no problem.

Ask them if they will ship a "non-functional", "collector" vehicle intended for car shows, not street usage. Pull the engine (and leave it in Germany) and plan on pulling out the fuel tank (safety reasons while shipping).

It may all be in the wording.

Maybe you could word it as a "collection of parts" required for restoring a vehicle in the US.
