Honda 85 CRX SI engine removal
You will need an engine hoist or a cherry picker for sure. I have herd that it is easier to drop the motor out of the bottom, but when I did my swap I just pulled it out of the top. http://www.redpepperracing.com is the best web site for 1st gen CRXs. Good luck with whatever swap your doing.

First get a service manual for your car. It is the best money you can spend when you want to wrench on your own car. As for your question you should be able to either pull it out the top with an engine hoist or jack the car up high enough to drop the engine out from underneath.
