Can you mix bearing halves
Okay I have a b18b that I was going to assemble tonight. I open my honda package hoping to see 1 brown upper main bearing and its a damn green. This is the second time this has happened after I called to confirm they were sending a brown. If you wanted to know I ordered online from majestic honda. Anyways since I have two extra green uppers can I mix one crank journal with a brown lower and a green upper? Do you risk chances of spinning bearings or premature wear by doing this? I thought I read somewhere on here that you can mix, I just want to make sure.

maybe you should give Len a call at Baranco, I'm sure he'll make sure you get the right ones....
I don't really know too much about the bearings and their colors, but I don't think I would be mixing stuff around, sounds to me like a spun bearing waiting to happen.

Not a good idea to mix those colors. They are marked that way for a reason, one being the size of the journal on the crank.
Go kick someone's *** and get the right bearing! lol You'll have more confidence knowing that the correct ones are installed so you won't have to worry about premature wear or a loose clearance

thats def true about the confidence thing y0....can anyone else confirm not to mix.....it is just one journal....but one journal could also ruin a whole crank
does anybody do this or what cause i can swear i saw it on here but nobody mentioned if it screws anything up or not

Any chance the the green will still be in the clearance spec?
Not all cranks/rods have the same color bearings for all four mains/rods. I just helped a friend rebuild a B18C5 and stock he had one crank journal that was thinner than the rest.
No you can't run a brown and a green on the same journal though. That wouldn't be a round bore, it would have a lip.

NO definatley do not mix bearing "halves together". Best way to find out if you could use a green one. Get a telescoping gauge and micrometer to find out what specs you need, for oil clearnces
