Default Ok, ok....My first race report....

I decided to go W2W about 1 year ago. It had always been in my blood, and it was only a matter of having the funds to actually put it together. Well, as many may know, the mortgage industry has been lucrative for the last few years.....So here we go!

I started out with a busted *** shell back in November of 2003. I hauled it down to Portland to Russ @ RACETECH FABRICATION to have a pimp *** cage installed.

So now I have a cage and a bare shell....great, looks like I have my work cut out for me!

So I get to work in the rain and shine. Removing tar, prepping the car for paint, sorting and organizing this and that, refurbishing parts that would eventually go back on the car. I have to admit, there were times that people were saying I should just quit being so **** and get the damn car on track, but I spent the time and did it just the way I wanted too.

So the car gets some paint, Championship White to be exact. I reasearch this, I research that.....Finally I have all the peices to build this sucker the way I want it! Big thanks here to Jim Hill @ http://www.proflowdesign.com/, he hooked me up with my Sparco seat, suit, and some other goodies! Thanks Jim!

I spent lots of nights in the garage...with a vision of having a nice, pimpy race car one day....

Pimpy numbers from http://etiquettemarketing.com/ Talk to Andy for a H-T discount!

Thanks to Phil @ http://www.philstireservice.com for the Firecharger setup, it makes me feel safe.

I am happy with how my car came together

I went out and bought a brand new 18' trailer from a kick *** trailer builder http://www.topnotchtrailers.com/. 4' beavertail, tilt, spare tire mount....some silver pinstripes to match my wheels.

Ok, let's go racing!

Spokane 7/16/04-7/19/04

HOT! HOT! HOT! Man it was hot over there! I hate the hot weather....I fu@k!n sweat like a ***** in church. Big, big thanks to Steve Ingersol for his Icevest. I don't think I would have made it without that thing!

Keep in mind this car has never seen a track and I have never been around Spokane Raceway! So needless to say I am nervous, hot, and wondering if my car will fall apart or not....

I know I look all calm here, but what I am really thinking is "I wonder if my wheel will fly off at 100mph+ going into turn 1?"

My wheels stayed on the car. However they didn't stay on the track all weekend....I will post the video later...

One thing I really, really liked was the ALLVIEW MIRROR Contact: bulldog_RS20 for a H-T discount. DAMN! It is really nice to see that Porsche coming up on you really fast!

I had an issue with the car smoking on Saturday and knew right away it would be the "meatball" flag. Sure enough a couple of laps later I was pulling in to the hotpits to make sure I wasn't leaking oil. I knew exactly what it was right when it started smoking! I filled the oil about 1/3 quart over when I headed out for the race. The "black box" on the back of my block was loading up with oil on a long lefthander and it was being sucked back into my intake via the PCV system. A quick re-route of that to a catch can made sure everything was in order for Sunday.

I started on the pole for the Novice race Sunday. I got passed by a few ITS BMW's and was running solo around the track until I saw this in my Allview.

****! I knew that bastard would catch up to me! Oh yeah, did I mention Colin's new "east coast rocketship" is fast? Fast enough to qualify 3rd in ITA on his very first upgrade race.

So Colin goes flying by me on the straight and then runs out of brakes on the back section of the track and has to take the access road. I wish I had the video of me laughing at him as I turned in on the corner he couldn't make.

So I finished in 5th place behind some ITS cars and Jr. in a very fast yellow CRX (Keith's car). I was satisfied with that......I had a blast and can't wait for the next race at Pacific Raceway

Great pics can also be found here http://www.photoreflect.com/sc...N009L

BIG THANKS TO

Jeremy... You are a ******' badass!

edit: I want to congratulate Jeremy on a maneuver that only happens a few times in a racing career: Jeremy passed 2 cars under a yellow flag (myself being one of them), over 80mph and he did legally... How? well, let's just say he's been watching too much WRC.

Watching your roommate leave the track next to you while he's doing 100mph on his very practice session can break your focus a bit. He did it to keep from running into the back of me which I thank him for but damnit... find another way to scare me!

I'm gonna thread jack... cuz I can:

I didn't run out of brakes.. I ran out of experience.. if I wasn't such a rookie I wouldn't have overdriven my car like that or at least I wouldn't have tried to brake so deep lap after lap after lap. I just couldn't help myself, closing the gap on rick from turn 2 to 4 was just too much of a rush!

I think I'm going to try to get a set of Scott's "Miracle" pads and actually try bleeding my fluid this time. The racecar might be fast now but after inspecing the suspension a bit closer I see that all the control arms have stock bushings that are totally shot. I will be fixing this before my next race.

The DC header will stay on the car for Seattle where my car will be there but I won't and it will be driven by someone faster then myself... I won't tell you who but you ITA guys better bring your "A" game.

AFter Seattle I will be putting a stock header on so that I can run in ITA and FP/EP (whatever's faster) at Portland. Uhhh... anyone have a stock header for sale/give-away?

My sponsor will be at the Portland race to support me... Thanx D.A.D.!

Another edit: I just want to put in another good word for Steve Ingersol's Ice-Vest. I saw Jeremy come off the track without using it and it looked like he took a shower in all his racing gear.... then I saw him come off the track with the icevest on and he was cool as a cucumber. When you can keep your body temp from rising you can keep your mind focused.
