Expo write-up from a non Hype-R owner
First order of business, everyone that rolled the M3 in novice please raise your hand
*looks around and sees that all hands are raised*
Damn...well, moving on!
As is customary, big thanks goes to Trey and all those involved in the planning and execution of this years ITR Expo. I was understandably excited when I heard officially that non-ITR's could participate, but was still hesistant to enter thanks to a shakey prior HPDE experience. It took a lot of people telling me "do it!" and other words of encouragement, but I finally signed up.
Big thanks goes to Ryan (.RJ) as well. He knew the mindset I had going in to Expo and that I didn't really care to be the fastest car out there, I just wanted to learn the lines, be smooth, get better as the day progressed, and most importantly, be safe. He never pushed me to do things I didn't want to on track, he allowed me to naturally progress, and that worked very well for me. Hopefully I wasn't holding anyone up out there, I'd try to give a point by ASAP if I knew you were faster.
Last thanks goes to all the people that came up to me and offered words of encouragement and asked how I was enjoying it out there, it may not have seemed like much, but I really appreciated it.
On to the car. It was a case of fast car and slow driver
. The car felt very neutral and the brakes were amazing. I was using Cobalt GT-Sports in the front and Axxis Ultimates in the rear, zero fade all day, even in the piggish M3
. I honestly don't want to mess with the suspension at all, it just felt so right. In hindsight I should have used second gear in some spots, but tq is a nice thing and I was able to get away with just using 3rd and 4th gear.
It was nice putting a lot more names with faces this year, as well as some people that I haven't seen in a long while (maybe I'll be even skinnier next time
), and I hope to see everyone again in the future. If/when there is Expo 5, I will be there, maybe I'll actually have an R by then

Lots more on track and I tried to get every car that was in the pits.
Oh, and if anyone wants the full resolution version of any of the pics, PM me, they are around 2240x1488, great for prints (which I can do for you at a slight fee)
Hope I get a special exemption to be with you guys on track at the next one!

as one of the 3 remaining 4 time expo participants to another and the only remaining driver in all 4 you are always welcome at expo, no matter what you drive.

I'd have to say he is an honorary ITR owner regardless. Hope to maintain this status myself one day
