FREE COILOVERS!! Help me Install them, *PIC*
Thats right free. I was planning riding this car stock but ****, free doesnt hurt.
A speed shop had a garage sale but I got there late but still lucked out
I spotted a set of adjustable coils. Picked up the box. Crx/CIVIC !!! SWEET
Price they wanted was $30 but I wanted them anyways. I also grabbed a rear upper sway bar for $5 that they said was a cusco for a Crx but was pretty scratched (I love painting **** anyways). But when I paid for the stuff he said the coils were FREE!!!!

I dont know the brand nor the spring rates but they were on a workers car for 3600 or so miles. Above is what they look like. They are all the same height and none are stamped with a springs rating.
How do I install these? Ieve never done a spring install before. I plan to dop 1.5" on stock shocks but can anyone tell me how there supposed to be placed and stuff.
You can see in the pic, on the bottom there is a flat machine surface with no threads and on the top there are 3 allen key screws, the red things spin up and down and there in a different spot on everyone so I assume some played with them, so if anyone could help me install these Id appreciate it. I want to install them this weekend

Take off the stock spring. Use a compressor preferrably, but it you want to do it the ghetto way, face the top of the sprint to a wall, and loosen the nut on top of the mount/shock.
Put some rubber rings over the shock, to keep the coilover sleeve from moving and rattling about.
Slide the adjuster ring about half way, and put the spring on. Re-install the top, and re install the whole assembly back onto the car. (I assume you know how to take off a shock. If not, 5 bolts or so.)
Adjust if from there until you like how high/low it sits. Remember that stock shocks are REAL bouncy if you dump the car low. And you're likely to kill them in the process.
It's a real straightforward process actually. Souldn't take you more then an afternoon, depending on how stuck the bolts are.

Ya Ive never done a single thing suspension wise. But how does the spring sit on this sleeve.
Are the allen key screws supposed to be on the very bottom so the things cant spin off and the machined part up inside the spring?
I also dont have a spring compression but I guess I could rent one for a day or two.

I suspect that the screws go on the top to prevent the wobbling of the sleeve. The spring simply sits on top of the sleeve.

They have plenty of pics.
You could ghetto remove the springs. I did. There's not that much compression on them anyway. Just go slow.

Hey dude, I did some searching around on e-bay, looking at all the coilover kits. The Weapon R coilovers caught my eye, because they also had the 3 allen screws. I also agree with what SETI20 said, and those are supposed to be tightened up against the shock or strut body to keep it steady. My old GC's as well as a few other brands use rubber rings that you roll onto the shock strut body, and those rubber ring keeps the threaded body steady. That's why I didn't know what they were for when I responded to your other post.
So it looks like the 3 allen bolts go up, and are tightened against the shock or strut body evenly. The orientation in the pic I posted in the other thread is how the coilover sleeve goes on your shock/strut. Then you chould have some rubber discs from your CO kit that go on the top of the coil spring. Now for installation, you will need a spring compressor to disassemble your old stock shock and spring setup. But you should not need the compressor to put the coilover setup together. You can just move the collar all the way down, put the spring on and the rubber part on top and the stock upper strut perch and then you put the retaining nut on top. Then you can adjust your collar upwards until the spring is sandwiched between the collar and the upper perch.

Im gonna tackle this **** tomorrow. Non ******* stop, making a flase floor out of plywood in the rear and carpeting it, installing my brother nitrous kit on my car and these coilovers. ****
Gonna be a long dick day

oem and aftermarket replacments are good for like a 2-2.25in drop, thats it then they're done

when will all you guys figure out these "cheap" springs will destroy your suspension, no matter what shocks you have in there. the rates are not matched to a lightweight crx. they arent made for anything, street, race, drag or whatever. theyre the same crap the have available for any car that will fit the normal honda shock diameter, which is ALOT of different cars. seriously, id throw them back at whoever tried to give them to me free.
how could that be when the companies are just ripping off the design of other companies that make **** for our cars. for ex. the TOM MOTORSPORTS coilovers are an exact copy of the eibach ground controls. spring rates are 450 front 350 rear same as my buddies weapon r coilovers. btw how do you know when a shock is blown other than it leaking??
