Default Qeastions about sub rms to amp rms

Hey guys...just a quick qeastions about rms. I picked up a 400 watt sub with 175 rms. Now i'm looking for an amp to match it. Im looking into audiobahn because a couple friends have them and like them. But my main qeastions is should i buy a 400 watt amp with 210wat rms or should I get a 300 watt amp with 200rms. Seems like the same setup with the rms. Is the sub going to be able to handle the 25 extra rms? Or should I just find a sub with 150rms? Thanks ahead of time guys...

It is better to be over powered [on the amp] then under powered

this totally depends on the quality of the sub/amp.

i wouldnt/ havent used either of those brands ... so i cant tell you anything.

but cheaper bling amps usually rate there power at 14.4 volts and its over rated "max peak power". same with subs.

ppi and pheonix gold for example rate there subs good but UNDERrate there amps to hell. i had 2 300w max a piece 12"s with a 160x2 ppi amp and it beats them hard as hell . they rate theres at RMS countinuous power @ 12v. cars put out about 13.8v

just some knowledge for you....

You are always better off going with the stronger amp if you are willing to spend the extra $$. Even if it claims to be more than your subs can handle, they will handle it fine as long as it is adjusted properly to your speakers. Amps don't blow speakers....People blow speakers. Simple, but seriously....its called "headroom". Your amp won't stress out pushing the subs, and the subs will always have ample power to drive them....
