Car sounds like it has a BOV
Hi!
Last friday I equipped my ITR with a T1R 4-2-1 header, testpipe and a hytech catback. Also, the car has a J's racing intake. The performance is fantastic but I'm a bit worried about a new sound I got. When I change gears at redline I get a quite noticable BOV-style "ptshh" sound from the engine bay. A beautiful sound but surely this cannot be normal? Me or anyone i've asked has ever experienced anything similar. You guys know what could be wrong? Or is this normal with my setup?

Don't worry man it's the testpipe. Absolutely normal. Think about it. Your old cat had something blocking the fumes from going through, now you have a straight through pipe . So when you shift the pressure gets released and you get the noise. Only happens above 7500 for me. Most noticeable in a tunnel.
my GSR did the same thing once my Cat was blown out the tailpipe. It's a neat sound too. I always get the "I thought superchargers didn't have BOV's?!?"
Dude. I just got the J's intake installed last Thursday and it makes a whistling sound when accel. and shifting. I think that's probably what your talkin' about. I actually like the sound.
You complaining about boost and you didnt install or pay for it.......
.
J/K.......doesnt sound like anything to be too worried about!
