sputtering after heavy rain for initial run at low speeds
92 si
after heavy or moderate rain, my lude always seems to sputter very badly as i first start it and begin to accelerate. it's to the point where my car will look somewhat as if i'm a beginner on a clutch doing the "herky jerk".
i've come to the conclusion that rain is somehow getting somewhere it shouldn't be and after i rev up the rpms or accerlate to 30mph+, that water is getting blown out or evaporated...
at that point, the car will not act up anymore, but when i'm coming out of parking lots and have to go slow, the forementioned can happen for some time. are there any specific spots that are known to take on/in water. i don't park in puddles of rain or drive through them.

this happened to my old h22 except the motor would just bog and not go over 3500 my best educated guess was there was some exposed wiring. Its all worked out and my swap finally works right. Post some more info about what you have, do you have an aftermarket intake?
start by changing your plug wires, including the one that goes from the coil to the distributor,
which brings me to he other thing, you may want to change your cap and rotor, for if moisture gets shwere its not supposed to it helps the electricity take the easiest path, to ground, which is usually not through the spark plugs,/

definetly not the plug wires or distributor. i had both of those replace with new parts recently
no cold air intake or any other mods under the hood. oem intake, the rest is pretty much stock

so did you figure out anything, or just swap and the problem was present with the other motor?

make sure you don't have any water in your spark plug holes, ive seen this before,
does the car just sputter when you try to gas it? or does it sputter only under load,
regaurdless next time its doing this, just park it, pop the hood and see if you can get under and see if you can hear/see if your spark is shorting out some where..
though you wen't very descript tive, do you think you sputtering do to a loss of fuel or spark, does it feel like a miss or a complete huge hessitation.

Do you have a CAI?
On my old motor, it did that also. It turned out a cheap filter I had thrown on their had the top seal to the filter give out, and water would collect inside the filter when it was parked, then get sucked up when I cranked it.
Otherwise, try the plug wires and dizzy cap next.

na, no cold air intake. pretty much stock*
*things that are not stock in no way could affect my problem
but i'll check my filter next time it rains or i wash my car. to see if water is somehow collecting inside. even though it's an oem intake, it may be a similar issue.
