Default If you were living in Germany...

...and were buying a cheap 88-91 CRX (maybe w/zc, cheap being under $1000, mint condition)...what would you do to it and where would you take it???

I am looking at buying a CRX right now, if that falls through I will look for a 4th gen hatch. I'm not really wanting to get anything else other than a honda, because everyone out here has problems with their euro cars when they pay under a grand for them, stuff easily fixable if it happens to me, thanks to h-t classfieds

So what would you do? I am wanting to get into racing, and I am only an hour away from Nurburgring (f1), even closer to Hockenheim (f1), and not too far from Sachsenring (moto gp)...I was thinking just getting another set stock wheels, putting some DOT R tires on there, and getting a set of brake pads for the track, and just swap the pads, rims/tires on there when I get to the track and just rip it up (or attempt to )

They offer driving schools out there too, I want to take one before I come back to the states next august.

I can get involved in road racing anywhere, but if I were living in Europe I'd do this: http://www.videoconcept.com/Clips/cam4.wmv

P.S. this clip was posted awhile back, but I'm in love with that Lancia Delta S4...

If you could get a ZC or B16A-equipped CRX, you'd have a blast on the Nurburgring. Just build your suspension and brakes and then go have a blast.

What is it--like 15 euro and anyone can drive the Nordschliefe for a lap??? Gad--I'd love to do that!!!

Go drive the 'Ring. Public times are posted on http://www.nuerburgring.de/eng/frame_04.htm
Drive really slowly until you know what you're doing...which will take days!

I was at the ring earlier this year for the European Grand Prix, but I havent driven on or seen the Nordsleife yet...thats why I am trying to get a car, I'm looking at a crx right now, and if that goes through I'll have it soon, but it doesnt look like it will. I might end up having to settle for a 4th gen hatch, there are alot more of those around than the crx's...

What to do to the CRX and still have it streetable?

Get the car up to snuff with basic maintainence issues, then do suspension; shocks, springs, bushings, etc; Hubs; Brake pads, rotors, fluid, master cylinder; would go with 15x6.5 wheels with Azenis or similar tire, not R-compounds for track days... not worth the extra money, IMO; 4pt Rollbar, 5pt belts two decent fixed back seats... have to protect the instructor too.

Get lots of seat time and do all the tracks.
