Default A day at the Drag Strip in Hilo, Hawaii. Including cars from Endless Garage! (56k, 27 pics)

By the way, $7.00 admission was way overpriced

We'll start off with the cars from Endless Garage, who spent money shipping their cars over from Oahu.

Gil's N/A B18C1 Hatch
Let me tell you about Gil's car. It was very clean. There was so many JDM parts on the car that would make someone think the car was from Japan. Parts included the seamless EG6 seats, the EG6 engine bay badge, the hatch storage compartment (taken out for racing), JDM sunvisors, EG6 rear interior plastic pieces, EG6 cluster, EG6 steering wheel, EG6 radio, plus more. There was no audio console though, but his car was impressive nonetheless. His time at the track was low 12's I believe.

Brandon's Turbo B18C1 Hatch making 480 WHP
Brandon's hatch is amazing. It's so loud, I could hear the car spool from 500 feet away as though it was right next to me. He ran a 10.4 at the track today. He has the fastest Honda that I know in Hawaii. And his car is street legal! More pics and specs here http://www.eight08.net/2002/brandonshatch.html.

Ritchie's (I believe that's his name) Turbo H22 Hatch

Another Turbo'd Hatch

One Sick Hatch (I didn't get to meet the owner)
UPDATE: The owner name is Tim, and he has a turbo B18C. He dyno'd at 581.4 WHP and 379.5 ft/lbs. of torque on a dynojet.

Randon EG with JDM Front End
Before I left, I wanted to take a picture of this Red EK hatch with a JDM front end. It was clean, but as I left so did it before I got there. But here's the EG with JDM front end that was parked next to it.

Burn outs

Supra with a Turbo LS1 with Phil's Turbo DB8 in the background (I think he ran 12.9)

My friend Seth's EK with B18C1

Some orange hatch

Turbo Mustang Cobra (well, what's left of it)
I saw the accident from beginning to end. It was amazing. The guy never had traction throughout the whole race. Off the line he was swerving a little, almost hitting the guardrail. The turbo spooling was an amazing sound. He eased off the throttle to gain some control. As soon as he straighten out a little bit, stupid enough he hit the throttle again. The car started swerving across the track almost going sideways as he tried to countersteer. Then it swerved one last time, and this time it was sideways into the guardrail on the driver front side. He hit so hard the car lifted into the air and did a 360. The driver was alright, but he was pissed. He took off his jacket and threw it on the ground.

Too bad for the Mustang. Isnt that the one from Naka's? That thing has the biggest turbo and exhaust ive ever seen, crazy. So only 3 Hondas made it from Oahu? Any times?

ed bergenholtz came with the idea that with a wheelie bar on his crx which was piloted by his brother ron bergenholtz, that on a launch, the rear end doesnt dip down thus providing full traction to the front wheels from launch to end of the strip.
