if ur serious about making anything fast, u have to do it right doesnt matter if its ls/vtec or not, so yes to do it right it takes alot of money if ur serious about it. seems like u want a site on how to do it, maybe u should do research first and see what it really takes to do it urself the right way u need some engine building skills to do it RIGHT

if u just wanna slap a vtec head on it and some oil line kit then by all means go ahead but thats not doing it right, doing it right involves alot more mechanical skill so i suggest that ur very mechanically inclined/confident in engine building

What I planned on doing was a B20VTEC motor and after thinking about it planning it a lot, I decided that the most cost effective route to accomplish LS or B20 VTEC is to do a B16 swap first. You have all of the parts that you need already except the block.

This is also because finding a good VTEC head especially for a good price can be difficult. Also, finding a tranny that's not geared very tall like the LS can be a feat in itself, let alone finding it for a budget friendly price.

So here is what I am doing, I've already swapped a B16 into the rex I have ( not done yet so the rest is hypothetical ). For the money you spend on the swap, you have a running care with good power and the only downtime was what it took for the swap. This leaves you an opportunity to have a RUNNING car that actually makes decent power, so you can work and get the money required for the project etc... At the very same time, you buy an LS (or in my case a B20 ) block and have it worked on and built without rushing it. You already heard from everyone here this takes time and patience and money to do it right. Better to even spend a little more money first than to cut a corner or miss something and blow everything.

Once the bigger displacement block is completed and ready to swap in, IMO the best route would be to purchase this... http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com/str_vtecsystem.html and do the conversion in a weekend, with hand tools, and you will know that it's done properly, quickly and in the most cost efficient manner.

VTEC is an oil *****. That conversion kit makes sure to supply the juice so that you don't experience oil starvation and want to kill yourself. It's also a fuel *****, but this is to be expected...who builds that motor and doesn't get on the throttle every now and then, am I right?

I would suggest that you get the block SLEEVED, don't waste your money on a block guard, especially if you plan to boost or already are boosted. I also recommend the Moroso oil pan and pickup for better oil delivery and an all around safer situation for the motor.

Have fun and keep us posted!!
