im getting a discount from my friends audio store, i know crutchfields prices are expensive, but i was just looking on there cuz they have detailed pictures and descriptions.
i read the pioneer headunits scan through mp3's slow and take a while to read them.

alpine or pioneer should be fine.. other day my friend got his first alpine... basicly he nut in his pants telling me how clear the sound was and showed off how he could change the colors.. now he is getting a complete alpine setup with a 5 channel amp and either R or X sub... try alpine out.. he was also a previous pioneer guy with the eq monitor stuff. tell me how it goes
me personally if i would get the 9833,, on ebay almost 300 or so.. ive learned do it once do it right.. get it cheap get it again.. the 512 colors its tempting

will i need such an expensive head unit for 2 6.5" and an amp? sorry i dont know much about audio. i do know that i will NOT be adding any subs.
IMO if your not going to add subs or more speakers a cheaper unit will be fine.. with only 2 speakers im not too sure you will have to touch the eq settings that much to worry bout it.
i most likely will not be adding more speakers. do i even need an expensive hu? i would like a good one , but not overkill. also , the reason i was looking at the alpine 9827 was because of the 4v preouts. what is the diff in the 4v preouts and would i notice it?
what hu would you recommend based on my setup.
thanks for the quick responses,

For your use i think the 9827 or even a 9830 for about 10 bucks more(going by ebay prices) both those units are pretty much simaliar.. except.. 9830 plays wma and the faces swings to pop cds in instead of having a cd slot (9827) either way i think you will be set whatever unit u pick
The Pioneer IMO is much easier to navigate. It will take longer to access an MP3 vs. a regular CD, but its only when you first put it in. Going through the tracks will be the same speed. I used to be diehard Alpine, but I'm not impressed with they're new decks.... Stay away from JVC....look nice, but basically just a turd in disguise....
thanks alot guys. im thinking either the Pioneer DEH-P4600MP or alpine cda-9827 . the only thing making me consider the alpine is the 4v preouts . is that a good reason to choose the alpine. would i notice a difference?
also the cda-9827 does play wma files.
thanks in advance,
drew

4 volt preouts will make a difference if you are using amps. Basically, the higher the output voltage on the preouts, the less you have to turn your amps up. Its usually a cleaner signal.

another thing i cant figure out about the pioneers is that there is a 460mp and a 4600mp , it's like that for a few other models too. what the difference?
The 4 volt preout probably won't make a huge difference in your case. The 460mp is actually a Pioneer Premier unit and 4600mp is the regular Pioneer cd player. I'm not sure of the exact differences....The premier is usually a bit better.
gotcha. i coulda swore the 4600mp was premier. i'm pretty sure it's just the warranty. it's the same with my speakers. im probably getting the pioneer 4600mp or 460mp because i read that u cant see the text on the cda-9827 in the daylight.
thanks for all your help guys.

460MP = Premier
Premier = 2 year warranty instead of one year
The CDA-9827 works flawlessly, it's fine in the daytime. It's a decent HU for the price.

damn so now it's between the cda-9827 and the premier 460mp. is the alpine difficult to navigate. im mostly looking for the best bang for the buck here.
also i read teh pioneer cant read itunes aac files(mpeg 4) . does anyone know if the alpine would?
