2 questions, im new (97 accord LX)
ok, so i just got my hands on a fresh 97 accord LX. 1st, what is the little toggle switch hanging from underneath my dashboard near my pedals? 2nd, how do i go about getting the reflectors out of my headlights, i have tried to take out the housing by taking out the one screw on top but it doesnt come out.
also, i dont have much money so what are some mods i can do at home that either look cool or increase performance..
and i know im probably gonna get flamed for SOMETHING i sad said just letting you know that im ready......

The switch is probably a valet switch for an alarm. The one screw on top of the headlights is to adjust the vertical positioning of the headlights. You'll have to remove the bumper to remove the headlights.

the reflector in the corner? You remove the screw on top and pull the corner forward.

I have just about NO CASH and i have the exact same model/year. I did some cheap *** mods.
First, i bought a cone style air filter from (of all places) circuit city. they have a riceass car performance/audio thing at the back of the store. you can prolly get a cheap one from somewhere near where you are. i then got a peice of 3" exhaust piping (bent 90 degrees) at a local autozone. then i took out the airbox. also, buy two hose clamps, those kind that have the screw you turn that tightens the metal band. first thing, you have to take the pipe, put it into the rubberish intake hose going to the intake manny, and then see where you need the hacksaw the exhaust hose to angle correctly. should be about 160 degrees. i cut the pip in between the kinks in the bend. (no mandrel bent high quality **** at autozone. it cost 3 bucks for the tube anyways.) make sure to wash the tube when you are done, and file down both ends to make sure no metal goes inside the engine. then with a little ingenuity, put the exhaust pip into the intake rubber tube thing (ya, can't think of a proper name for that thing) and put the cone filter on the other end, and make sure you put the hose clamps on there. tighten, rest filter next to batter and voila! for 35 bucks you have yourself what in effect is thesame as a 250 buck intake. oh, side note: you don't have to take off the metal spring thinger that is at the end of the rubber intake tube (its sorta a spring, it keeps the tube on the air box). the exaust hose fits in there snug, and the hose clamp makes sure its snug. also, you may hear a little tapping when you are on the accelerator. thats the new intake tapping the hood. if you can weld, weld a peice of metal that you can put a screw in and attach to the upper mount for the airbox. i didn't bother, the tapping goes away, and doesn't affect theintake.
second, that awesome muffler on the back could use some replacing, eh? instead of going cheapass and buying a 50 dollar muffler off ebay, go cheapAZZ and drill a 1" hole into the pipe that bends up before entering the muffler. makes a weird noise when you first start up, but after the engine wamrs up, it sounds just like a trashback exhaust is on there. i also notice a little more power in the low end.
third, resest your ECU! turn on the car, let it run for a couple minutes, then take out the ECU, radio, and radio backup fuse. i think there is also the cigarette lighter fuse... i'm not sure. if there is that one, take that one out too while the engine is running, in that order. the engine will stutter then shut off. leave this **** out for 10 minutes. you can even unplug the battery. go make a sandwich. eat. comeback, and install the fuses and battery again. you just reset the fuel maps and such in the ecu to the current setup and weather conditions and such. do this after mods or when the seasons change.
just a coiuple little things. its late and i'm mad tired, so if some of this doesn't make sense, email me (or anyone else who wants to) at sietekk@hotmail.com for pictures or questions. just make sure the subject says "accord intake" or something, cuz i have uber spam eater **** turned on. just a couple solutions to easy upgrades.

Wow, talk about ghetto. If you're gonna make your own intake, buy a 2.5" MANDREL-BENT 90 degree bend for about $15. Dont wanna use that crush bent ****. A 3" intake also wont be as good for flow as a 2.5" intake. Or spend $15 more and get an intake shipped off of ebay.
As for that exhaust ****... stupidest idea I've heard in a while. Do you drive around with your windows up and your radio at full blast? Because you probably dont hear how obnoxiously loud your exhaust is.
