Default Lets compare B16's

The story: I have got a B16a from Hmotorsonline... a SirI, there cheapest B-series vtec. Anyways, it is a little different than the B16's that I have seen.

There is another vacuum module on the intake manifold. I have highlighted it in the picture.

Why is mine like this? Is it something special? Is the enging really out of a JDM CRX? Or a Integra???

Thanks.

The one with that sensor is from a jdm intrgra, the one without is the crx one. I believe the sensor allows the revs to drop slower when off the accelerator.

No, it changes nothing, a S2 IM wont have the sensors(there not necessary).

if you have all those metal vaccuum lines on the backside of the intake manifold its off an integra.

also the civic/crx b16's had y1 transmissions.

Yeah, I was told the motor I bought was from an XSi too and the guy said he knew it was because it came straight from Japan with the J1 tranny, he said it's the shortest geared of all of em, even shorter than S1. Is this right?

And yeah I have that too.

BTW, apparently the XSi motor that you have makes 10HP and 2LBS of torque more than the Civic\CRX B16 and has the shorter geared tranny to make up for the extra weight it has to tow, any truth to that as well?

Also, doesn't it redline at 8,200rpm?

The s1 and J1 (jdm) have the sam gear ratio's. No that b16 makes 160 crank hp. The 92-93 obd1 xsi makes 170, the obd1 xsi is the same as a eg sir engine.

PS, I believe this is correct info.

I think all the metal tubes are just shortcuts for running vacuum lines? Thats what they look like they are used for.

Your engine sounds like a xsi to me, but remember engine importers often mix and match parts. Trannies, ecu's, dizzys, axles, exc... They just grab from a plile of parts, and make sure you have 1 of each.

Not true, obd0 is white, obd1 is grey. There is integras all over the world with white plugs(obd0) 90-91 with the b16a. Ryan

grey plug=obd-1 (92-95)....this is inaccurate in saying that ALL integra's harnesses have grey plug

a friend of mine ordered a 1 series integra B16A OBD0 and it does in fact have grey injector plugs, unlike any other OBD0 car i've ever seen.

Only the injector plugs were grey? Did it have a resistor box?
