I got my hondata tuned at Tempest Racing like 2/3 weeks ago?

they are some great guys that work down there, jason knows his **** and the other guys have years of experience working with hondas ( amongst other imports)

personally I must say im going to have to give a mixed review...

I have a pretty decently built b16 that baselined @ 183/122
I went down there on a tuesday ( I live in northern MD and it took 2 hours one way) they charge the standard 150 an hour with tuning and wideband.... I had scheduled a 2-3 hour block expecting a pretty extensive tuning session but was suprised and pretty dissapointed to see it was finished only about 45 minutes- 1 hour after it got on the dyno. My final run pulled 191.8/126, thats about 10 whp and 5 lbs of torque from what it put down un-tuned. I have an extensive list of modifications that you can read about in some of my other posts and I was happy with the numbers, I only expected about 185 whp before I went but only gaining 10whp and 5lbs of torque from hondata? I was dissapointed. I honestly felt that they did not spend as much time tuning as they could have and I know she could of done almost 200 with another hour or so.

They advanced ignition timing, didn't touch my FPR ( but I hondata would take care of the fuel ) and refused to touch my cam gears. I run a pretty aggressive cam and I know piston to valve clearance is always a consideration but they told me they usually dont even mess with it. I got the impression that they are mainly a turbo tuning/building shop that either chooses not to waste time picking out a few more whp out of an all motor car or just don't have the patience to spend tuning one.

For this reason im going to hesitate in recomending them to you if your running an allmotor setup. I don't have any experience at any of the other shops you listed but id like to find out myself which has a great rep. for all motor tuning. just my 2 cents, if you do choose to go to tempest atleast you can rest assured you have competent, knowledgable tecs that I would trust with my car.

thank you i appreciate your response, at least you mad power, the shop that tuned mine, did,t make any power from the base tune, then i brought it in to have them tweak the cams and still no power. i think they just didn't take the time to play with it. i only put down 193whp and 135tq

yeah man I don't know who to go to either, its hard here on the east coast, everything seems to be in CA

but yeah it seems like noone wants to spend the time to try and pull HP out of all motor cars, everyone loves tuning turbos, my theory is they make large amounts of HP with very minimal tuning so even an ******* who knows very little could turn up the boost and lean it out a little while All motor cars may lose HP with even the smallest tweaks. Goodluck with your tuning bro, im considering taking my projects somewhere else as it sits just to see if they can produce any more HP. Let me know where you go and how your experience was and ill do the same. Email me @ towsonb16@hotmail.com if this post is long gone by then. Thanks.

Sgt tunned my car 1 time. Did an awesome job. Remember, time isnt everything. The guys who do this everyday can build you a map to basline with that will be pretty close to your final result, just by you telling them what you have done.
